What if the drive way is *right* next to the house on the side that needs the grading. Does that mean it all has to be ripped up?

Thanks! Home was flipped and they disturbed soil around foundation, and overseeded so lawn is either flat, or negative grade. Not good on gutterless home. Definitely nill inch slope everywhere-I'll get right on it since cracks are popping up-inches per foot, to ten/twelve feet-got it!

One acre or rain! Lol this way of measuring is new to me. I’m writing this formula down. Thanks so much for the useful information

One Acre: 209.5' x209.5' x 1" ... Then, arithmetic! If I recall correctly, 6.25 Gallons per Cubic Foot (12" x 12" x 12")! Also, 3.78 Litres per US Gallon, 1 Litre = 1 Kg = 2.25 Lbs. (Double Check that, but If I got it right, a little math, and you are set!)

Rain will go through sidewalk cracks so it doesn’t count as grade around building
@brianbailey462 Жыл бұрын
really? but how fast can water really soak through a small crack? specially as they tend to get filled with fine soot
@Hello-zf5lq Жыл бұрын
@@brianbailey462 there is a video of a home inspector/foundation guy walking a house with basement flooding that had the concrete sidewalk around the building as grade and it wasn't working because rain just flowed through the cracks.. I imagine that the concrete 'roof' doesn't disperse all rain, and the amount that gets through the cracks is enough to alter soil wetness.. and that if you do concrete, you still need a grade so the water slides away from the building through capillary action and gravity.. just my theory.

what type of soil should i use for this project?
@darkage1015 жыл бұрын
Soil with alot of clay.. ie. Clayfill. Clay will form a impenetrable surface for water to flow away. Use regular top soil and water will seep through. Alternatively you could use any soil to grade but put plastic on top, then rocks on top . Water should roll off about 1 metre away from foundation.
