Definitely one of your best videos and rewarded for your patience and technique with some gorgeous shots! As a side note, its always worth trying to report any ring numbers off the birds leg to help with tracking so people can learn why a species sometimes "disappears" from an area and where they've been. For example, they may find that a songbird disappears from Denmark because a storm destroyed its breeding grounds in kuala Lumpur and not due to any change of environment in Denmark. (Very random example!).

The Dipper is a cool little bird. Hard to expose for due to it's contrasting dark and lighter tones. I use highlight priority metering on my D7500 and underexpose a bit if needed; I hate to fry the highlights on the birds white feathers.

Another gorgeous video, Trond! Can I ask - do you use your Nikon for videoing the wildlife? The clarity and depth of field are always spot-on. Also to let you know I ordered the hide via your link today, so hopefully you get a few euro out of it. Shame you don't get anything on the postage and tax, which are considerably more than the price of the hide! Anyway, every little helps! Really enjoying your videos, so please don't stop making them! Awesome video! I totally understand the hours of wait to get close to the birds, Im a nature photographer too, the birds are very smart, they have extraordinary hearing and sight. Yup, camo helps a lot to get closer to them , sometimes to close, they only hear the click, click, click sounds of the camera, and they look around and around trying to figure it out what's that sound.:)) I like your video. It show passion and love for nature and Photography. Great work.

Great video ! Can you tell me why the bird has a ring around his leg? Maybe some wildlife protection measures?
@xpqr123455 жыл бұрын
Some time during its life, the bird has been caught (most likely with a net) and had the ring put on. The information about this particular individual is recorded, along with the ID-markings of the ring put on the bird. If it is ever caught again, biologists can use the ring to identify the bird, and the information collected so far to draw conclusions. Obviously it takes more than one bird to draw broad conclusions, but if you ring several hundred (thousand?) birds every year, for several decades, eventualy you get enough information to know how each species behaves. Edit: there's a Wikipedia article about this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird_ringing

Great video-again 😊... I see alot of wildlife photografers in camo and blinds, but they seldom think about their white hands moving as "semaphors" when shooting. What is your take on that? I sometimes use black thin gloves.
@trondwestby5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the compliment. It all depends on the wildlife and how afraid they are. Sometimes I use gloves. And sometimes I just twirl the camo blanket around my hands.
