Easiest way character level and get your stat points is to run through the story quickly ,you also get a tonne of the stones and tomes for completeing the story quests

can you heal with a staff? Like Great sword/Staff?

from my understanding wand is the only real healing weapon, the longbow has a heal or two but not enough to really keep people alive. Staff is more of a option to run with a wand to provide some extra damage along with healing.

Staff does not heal, it's utility/damage

No you can't heal with a staff ,but there is a heal on the greatsword skillset good for low health near death situations, I run a greatsword staff combo and it's top tier for dps
