Tips for AFK Skill Training in F2P OSRS - OSRS F2P Guide

This video contains Tips for AFK Skilling in F2P OSRS. AFK training methods are a great way to get around the grind, or at least minimise it! These are my top AFK methods for F2P OSRS.
Everyone whose ever played OSRS for any length knows that the game inevitably turns into a grind fest at a certain points. A great way to get around this, or at least minimise the grind factor is to utilise AFK training methods. These are very low click and low attention methods, that allow you to pretty much leave your character to train, while you focus on other things, like the day job, a school or Uni assignment, etc.
Unfortunately, given the limitations on F2P not every skill is AFK-able. Most of the methods presented here are low click intensity, and there were a few skills I couldn’t even find any decent low click intensity methods for.

Afk for firemaking is forester fires. Just use a log on a fire and it works like old bonefires

For AFK firemaking you can setup a foresters campfire and then burn a full inventory of logs at that with one click. Earns 1/3rd XP though

A couple of points, you mention maple logs are valubale, but i remember buying some for 13gp each... so rather burn them as you go for 120xp each. Secondly, the afk method for woodcutting is to add to bonfire but this drastically lowers your xp rate. Thanks for the vid, was short, straight to the point and easy to digest. I lost my lvl 90 because of a crazy ex deleting the codes on my authenticator and deleting my back up codes so I had to start over with nma brand new account. So far I'm lvl 58

I remember back in the early 2000s I had my old character stolen. Classic young kid and someone said I work for the devs and need your username and password and…..I fell for it. But hey I’m back playing now. Much wiser and older now. Honestly my character that was stolen had god stuff but I had done every free quest. Now I have a character that’s even stronger than the one that was stolen all those years ago.

Another good afk strategy for f2p is AFKing Castle Wars with an alt in order to get gold Decorative Boots for the BIS melee boot.

Join castle war with an alt and capture the flag on the acc you want the boost and just stand for 20min. Put idle time in runelite to 25min

For a lower rate but more Ironman-friendly method for Crafting, have you looked at a Crafting Guild clay pottery method? It was my next thing to test out on my iron (unless you already have rate info?) Basically, mine Clay, form Soft Clay at sink a few tiles away and make Unfired Bowls (I think it's ~17/18 xp per bowl). Then either drop or fire them at the Pottery Oven for ~15xp each. Forming the bowls is medium speed, but firing an inventory of pottery takes a thousand years. Obviously the mining and wetting of the clay is quite click-intense, but forming and firing is pretty chill Alternatively, mining and wetting clay beforehand, to semi-afk pottery at Barb Village maybe?

Hello buthow708! Thank you for your comment! 🤔 Yeah crafting for an ironman is a pain. So in my crafting guide, none AFK, I recommend making silver tiaras, slow going but best rate I could find, because I think its a bit faster than clay due not having to wet it. Plus if you do it in Alk'harid you can mine, smelt and bank in one run. You get 52.5 XP per tiara, once your mining is high enough I think its a winner.

An afk method for minning would be shooting stars. not great xp but all you do is click every 7min at a new star teir

Mobile only suggestion is to use the hotkey on the left of screen and select it to 'drop items, this way you can drop your whole inv in like 15 seconds

Extra tip for f2p afk training is going into the busiest room in the black knights fortress. As they see you as an intruder they will keep on attacking you

forestry added what was basically bonfires in rs3, you just add logs to an existing fire. however its terrible exp, lighting a log normally for 40 exp is i think 12 exp on the foresters campfire, so big waste of wealth there.

I know the title is for AFK skills but for Range XP would it be worth to still go flesh crawlers? or is your video of giant toads still a good option just Non afk

Yeah so you can still follow the main Ranged Combat Guide but that’s not AFK. You can definitely use the flesh crawlers to AFK ranged though if/when you want to. Just I would only do it when you have probably full green d’hide and a decent defence level, probably at least 50. I say that because while the flesh crawlers don’t hit high they hit often and a higher defence should reduce the number of hits. If you go too low you will burn through food really quickly and possibly die if you’re not careful 😅 I’d say give it a try and just keep an eye on your character before you get up and walk away from the machine or stop watching it. Hopefully that makes sense 😅👍

Yeah I did think that you could just buy a tone of food and cook it, and its basically afk right? You can use any pick, personally I would recommend rune so that you max out XP, you will have to click more as you will run the veins out more frequently, but were there for the XP 🤔 Thanks for the comment hhhs3333!
