Seriously. I did everything right with my first. Yoga and hiking on a daily basis, red raspberry leaf tea, spinning babies exercises, squats, great posture, no sugar, etc. I was obsessed with prepping for a natural labor. But I had a looooong difficult labor and difficult recovery. Seriously there is only so much you can control. So if you have a hard labor or need surgery, don’t beat yourself up. Yes, these things can make labor easier. But they aren’t a control mechanism to make everything turn out ok. Life can throw you some crazy curve balls and sometimes no one is to blame.

Hi Sarah, I love your channel and your advice on beauty and being a mama is so helpful. I’m not a mama, but I love taking notes for when I am in the future and I also help take care of kids and having a down to earth role model is great. Also your beauty advice is amazing because you like what you like and you’re honest about it. It is so greatly appreciated because a lot of the bigger KZbinrs are sponsored and you show the products you truly love.

I just what to start by saying I love your channel! I'm almost 31 weeks with my first. I have PCOS and after 3 years of fertility drugs and doctor appointments, I took a step back and tried the natural root. I changed my diet, started Belly dancing and yoga, some acupuncteur, and meditation. I was about to lose all hope and try another round of fertility drugs. Before I could start my doctor wanted me to take a pregnancy test, and there after almost 4 years and hundreds of test my first positive! And I totally agree staying active if you can is great, we still hike to our cabin and I still belly dancing!

500 SQUATS?!?!
@stitchwhich
@stitchwhich 6 жыл бұрын
Weird and Weirdur2024. Its not hard. I never counted my daily squats but i made a rule any time i walked past the stairs i would do 2 to 4 squats. When i was admitted at 41 weeks to be indused without pitosin (wasnt making that mistake again pitosin is evil) i did a lot of laps around the ward at the hospital and at opposite ends of the ward i would do 2 squats. One of the nurses counted my laps and did the math i did approximately 100 laps ×4 squats = 400 squats while in early labor. I also did light yoga with the aid of my doula. My early labor was painless after my water was broke i went from 7cm to complete in 45min so the worst of my labor and delivery was only about 2 hours. Btw im not a small woman i was 230lb during that pregnancy but i kept active the more you move while pregnant the easier labor is.

I had to take an aerobics class in college and our teacher LOVED squats! There were days we would come to class and she would be so chipper and chime off "we're going to do a thousand squats today!" Sometimes they were in fun routines so it wasn't as noticeable. Other days we'd play "musical squat ups." We'd get in a circle with yoga balls and squat up from sitting on the yoga balls, played to music like musical chairs. Except when you got out you just took a ball and continued doing squats outside the circle. 😐 first class of the day on a campus with a LOT of stairs. My booty was poppin though.

If you exercise regularly before and during pregnancy, 500 is nothing really. But I guess it makes you feel how unfit you are if you can't do even half unless you are sick all along
@thesaintmustwalkalone708

OK, these comments under tours are so prideful. It's as though people think if they have a good labor, they have figured it all out... Lol.. 5 babies here... Despite being basically in the same shape, they are all vastly different. How you carry the baby, where the baby attaches or is positioned, if you are also carrying around a toddler, etc all play a role in a normal pregnancy. Just because a person may have a hard time doing squats does not mean they are just unfit. They very well can be, but you can't compare your one or two pregnancy journey against all others when there are so many factors to consider...

No matter how 'fit ' you are some people really struggle with joint pain during pregnancy due to the hormone Relaxin - it can really loosen some people's Sacro-iliac joints or lower back. This can make even walking very painful. Also, there's very little we can do on the outside that actually affects the inside i.e. your Cervix! One of the things that can cause difficulties in your labour is the 'lie' of your baby - my first was OP (Occiput-posterior) and so I was in 'hesitant labour' for a couple of days as you don't get the normal pressure of the babies head on the cervix so you don't dilate so easily. I did get fully dilated - with the helpof drugs - but then as she descended her neck started to tilt and she became a 'face presentation' as so she just couldn't descend so I ended up with a c-section. Baby number 2 was in a normal lie and popped out in 4 hours! It is good to limit the amount of added sugar for sure - gestational diabetes is not good for you or your baby! - but one of the best things to avoid is alcohol! There is no evidence at all that red raspberry leaf tea 'ripens' the cervix!! I was disappointed there was no mention of taking Folic acid from even before you start to get pregnant (if you can) to prevent Neural tube defects i.e. Spina Bifida

I also highly recommend arming yourself with the knowledge of c-sections as well as mentally and emotionally prepping yourself just in case. I prepped my body for natural labor and ended up needing an urgent c-section; while I had looked into c-sections, I didn't prep for one emotionally. My son is almost a month old now and is our little miracle

Love your channel! Thank you for this 💕I’m all about prenatal yoga! I’m a yogi, have been since teenage years, and had a wonderful, peaceful water birth with my son at a birth center, pushed for a total of 15 minutes before he slid out. (Now pregnant with baby #2 and love watching these kinds of videos, especially while prepping for a home birth:) Yoga is one of the only types of exercise that you don’t have to have done before you were pregnant to start during pregnancy (always check with doc/midwife of course). And YES, red raspberry leaf tea worked beautifully for me, as well as dates! Look it up. Scientifically shown to help with easier labor. Good luck, mamas! 💗🌸

I have developed umbilical hernia by 7 months of pregnancy due to too much squats and carrying weights as well.. not recommended during pregnancy.. ok with pilates and little squats but keep in control of your abdominal wall muscle to avoid developing a bad diastasis recti or to a worst than that (hernia) .. walking and swimming is the best for strengthening and preparing your muscles for a hard work at labour

Just a note on the red raspberry leaf tea: this is something to DEFINTELY ask your obgyn/midwife about if you have fibroids as it can interact with your fibroids in such a way that it mat encourage them to grow more which you don't really want to happen!!

Both of my labors were tough. My 1st was 29 hours with 3 hours of pushing, epidural at 15 hours in. I tore, it's cool. My 2nd was about 12 hours with 2 hours pushing, natural home birth. I tore, again. I stayed in shape, ate well, didn't gain a lot of weight, did hypnobirthing, had a list of affirmations, was very conscious of my posture day-to-day, supplemented, etc. Here's the thing: both my kids "made their exit" posterior, meaning sunny side up (face up). Generally, posterior babies make for longer labor and pushing, with lots of back labor. My 2nd was in a good anterior position for most of my pregnancy. Then once I went into labor BOOM, straight to posterior, and he NEVER TURNED. My midwife said she thinks it's probably just how I'm built, like it's a skeletal thing or something. Needless to say, I'm grateful for the prep I did because I was able to deliver my kids vaginally, but my labors were still, um, quite something lol!

This video has good advice but it assumes a 'healthy' pregnancy is a choice. Of course, every woman wants to eat healthy during her pregnancy, but it's hard to when you throw up if you even smell something healthy. Birth experiences can be so varied and so unpredictable, no matter what you do to prepare. It is very important to accept and understand that anything can happen, and that there is no such thing as the 'right' kind of birth or labor :)

Lavender essential oil is an irritant and also a sensitizing agent. Of course not everyone reacts to every irritant, but best to do a small patch test for a couple weeks before exposing such a sensitive area to it. From personal experience, I have now permanently sensitized skin due to using the lavender Dr. Bronner's soap. Despite having used the other versions (e.g. peppermint, tea tree) with no problem and never having sensitive skin prior to using it. I thought the swelling, itching, etc I endured on my face and eyes was bad, but I can't even imagine the same happening in the vaginal region...

This time I have a midwife and I'm going the natural way! Should happen any time now, due on July 22nd 😁 I wish I had found this video sooner! I'll keep it in mind for my next little one ❤

Yes, you use different muscles than in a regular squat, it helps with hip flexibility

I read on a medical website you arent supposed to do squats because it confuses baby about the position they are supposed to be in and they can breech.

So I’m an L&D nurse. While yes, being active is amazing and does actually make labour “easier”, the second, third etc baby is always easier and a quicker delivery in most cases.

Thank you for this Sarah! I'm 31 weeks! Aside from walking I haven't been doing too much but I don't really exercise much beyond that anyway so I'm cautious to introduce something new. These look totally doable though, how often should we be doing these stretches? On the daily?

Just found this video... Just from the first point I'm kind of upset. I have pubic symphisis dysfunction so any form of exercise hurts like hell... I haven't been able to exercise my whole pregnancy let alone pop a single squat. Does anyone have any tips on working out without being in pain?? 😞😞

Emily Kilgore - I absolutely agree. While I’m sure her intentions were pure, this way of speaking or giving advice can definitely set one up for disappointment. They’re all great tips, but nothing discussed here is a “literal” guarantee and not every one is able to utilize these “tools.” She even said at the start that those were huge claims, and that in itself is a huge understatement. I admit that cringed at her statement of (and I’m loosely quoting here) *it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out you will have a tough labor* if these “literal tools” aren’t utilized. ... Yikes. Of course I’m super happy she’s been able to be so active during pregnancies and has had “easier” labors with her methods (truly, that’s amazing and I hope the third birth is just as she hopes!), but this is definitely a topic that should be handled with extremely careful verbiage and huge disclaimers at the start. I believe I’m a pretty great example of “prepare for the best & expect the unexpected.” I am a mother of two boys, I did yoga every day during my first pregnancy 12 years ago (and years before getting pregnant), felt great the entire time. My super sweet midwife smiled at me at one point when I pulled out my “what to expect” book during an office visit to ask a question... She answered my question and then said, “now also be prepared to throw everything we just discussed out the window; you never know what can happen.” I appreciated her honesty and even more so, months later, while I was being rushed to have an emergency c-section after what was supposed to be my “natural / med-free / superwoman (lol)” planned birth. My contractions were too strong and my son’s heart would stop beating with each contraction. I wasn’t disappointed with having a c-section; I was very lucky to have everything I did at that point and *extremely* grateful for my whole birthing team. That being said, I hope my tone in this comment isn’t coming off snarky or angry or preachy; I just want excited mamas-to-be to also have a realistic approach to what is and what could be... and for anyone who isn’t able to follow along with this “advice” to not feel down on themselves. Whether you’re expecting and about to run a marathon or are reading / watching videos from bed rest, you’re absolutely amazing & doing what’s best for you and your little peanut 🤗 I genuinely wish Sarah & all expecting mothers here the very best 🙏🏼♥️

Carolyn Williams I couldn’t agree more! Sometimes no matter how much you utilize these “tools” things just don’t turn out like it does for Sarah. A lot of how her labors go could come down to simply genetics. I’m sure everything she does helps but genetics plays a HUGE part in how your labors go and how high risk you are.

Carolyn Williams, I didn't do yoga but I did light cardio and stretching during pregnancy and my natural labor was almost exactly like yours. The only difference is after I agreed to let the Dr's break my water to help progress things I almost instantly went from 5cm to 8cm but my son came down to quickly and caught my cervix between his head and my pelvis; which I'm told would have caused major damage of I pushed
