Oh jesus don't remind me I was rollar skating (not rollarblading) on a rainy day home, my neighborhood is built kinda like a bowl so water pools into the road, which is where I normally skate on so I don't run into kids playing. One day that fricking bowl was filled and i didn't see the water until I was in it. So I fell of course, but the worse thing is was that I was wearing a white jacket, my backpack got wet along with all my homework and books, and my mom was watching me the whole time, laughing. I guess it's funny now but just remember to be aware of your surroundings so you don't get carried away.

In my country people look at you strange if you're over 30 years. Me, I' m 34 and I started skating with my 7 years old daughter. We started together but she quickly left me behind. My falls were more painfull then hers. But I' m still on it. And I love it. But I don't like it when people stare at me like:" What are you doing, you're too old for that?" It got me in shape, after all these years and I feel great. Still having problems with ballance but I practice every day, if it's not raining or snowing.

They are just jealous. And in the back of their mind saying, I wish I could do this with my child, instead of let them watch TV all day long. I started at 40, I mean with sunglasses on it's hard to say if i'm 40 or 20. One day I had a dream where I was rollerblading, and it felt so amazing, the next day I go them and started practicing. Keep doing what you enjoy.

@@AuthenticRollerblade I have those exact same skates *Macroblade 80 ABT* except in men’s… I couldn’t figure out how to adjust the brake, so used them like a regular brake. Great video as it makes sense using the cuff to engage the brake. I threw the box and instructions out so that’s on me. But your video helped and playing roller hockey in the 90’s on rollerblades brings back memories and I’m still not there yet but I’m getting my balance back. Would love it if a group of 30’s and up got together in a group and skated the bike path. I went everywhere on my blades back in the day. I’m so glad I got them… P.S. *These wheels and bearings are way better than what we had as kids!*

Ha Ha...if you are a Beginner and you attempt a "real" T stop then you will fall ...nice of this professional instructor to not point this out! So for a beginner to attempt a full T stop at first try...instead, while rolling slowly just try to skate on one leg and then just gently touch your back skate in the T stop position for 1/2 a second then lift that back skate back off the ground. And be aware it's very easy to spin out of control if you put too much weight on your back skate. Gradually over many hours of practicing the T stop keep your back skate in contact with the ground longer and longer. Best to watch at least 4 or 5 you tube on stopping so you get tips that might make more sense to you.

I can't even begin to tell you that having the right set up is important to how well you can skate. The boots I have are from my teenaged years but even after about 9 pairs they make skating so effortless. They were from walmart and I got them for Christmas. They weren't expensive by any means but they still bonded to my feet better than anything I have ever tried. As for the bearings, I am using abec 5. The higher the number the better they spin and the less energy you have to put into skating. I have spacers in between the bearings and outside the bearings, not only because it makes them spin forever but also I don't have to fine tune the bolts. If you don't have spacers, you will know exactly what I mean. I am also using 76 mm 76a hardness wheels. They are very soft but nothing gives me a better feel of the road when skating and you would be amazed on how much these two numbers affect your ability to skate. Bigger wheels spin faster and longer but trades off in acceleration and agility. I like them small because I like to play hockey and turn quickly. To make a very long comment short; experiment to see what you like. Do some research on what wheels you should get according to your weight. And it doesn't have to be expensive to see what you like. I pick up my skates from the Goodwills around my home and other thrift shops. They are good equipment and if nothing else great parts that often around $5. MOST IMPORTANTLY HAVE FUN.

I'm going to be honest. I've been inline skating for quite a long time now, but I don't think that the brake on your inline skates are any good. I've tried them in the beginning and I must say that there a re a lot more effective ways to stop. If you use the break behind your inline skate it'll be quite hard to stop in time if you are going over a certain speed and it might also throw you off balance. This is what I experienced whilst skating so it might not be for everyone but I removed my brakes of my skates after about a week cause they were just not helping me in any way possible.

I’m new to inline skating, or skating at all! And I find that my skates get stuck under my feet, like I can’t angle my feet to either side when I’m skating, so turning takes many little steps. It also makes the t-stop braking very difficult too and I don’t know whether it’s just because I’m new to it... are my wheels too grippy?? I also can’t seem to get my feet into a line, but I’m assuming that just takes practice and better balance.

@117mcrfan6 жыл бұрын
Aisha Mussayeva bend at your knees! Whether I am on the ice or on the pavement, the lower I get the more stable I am. As for being stable on one leg, make sure you have a decent amount of speed and just lift you leg up when first learning, you will get a balance for that position. Once you master that then try putting your raised foot behind you and have it at about a 45° angle. It will come with time.

very good video1!! but my problem is when i do the t-stop i turn around.....
@InlineDownhillVancouver7 жыл бұрын
If you begin to turn while t-stopping, your weight balance is incorrect. Most of your weight should be on your non braking skate (around 70% or more, if you continue to have difficulty in the beginning) until you're in the proper t-stopping position. Then, you can apply more weight to your braking foot as you feel comfortable. Make sure that you bend your non-braking leg and keep it pointed forward. Quads, glutes and hip muscles need to be engaged.
@ESPONO9747 жыл бұрын
If you turn than your feet make more of a V or L than T. Make sure feet are perpendicular. With pressure on the back foot you control how fast you stop.
@simullane78367 жыл бұрын
Hi Henning, standing still put your foot back into a T position. Look at where you hips are. Your body is now not facing forwards. Try pointing with the same arm as the leg that is going behind. So right leg is doing the braking point forwards with the right arm. This should bring your shoulder around and so point your body where you are going. Hope this works for you?
@InlineDownhillVancouver7 жыл бұрын
Si Mullane, long story short: keep your shoulders pointed forward. ;) Good advice, though.
@InlineDownhillVancouver7 жыл бұрын
Danny, making a V shape has nothing to do with it. In fact, your skates should not be perpendicular, as it will create flat spots on the wheels. The braking skate should be slightly angled to allow the braking wheels to turn as they brake and wear evenly. Turning while braking has to do with improper weight distribution on each skate, not bending the non braking leg, and not facing the upper body forwards.
