Ever tried to mount an attachment plate a piece of something having multiple fasteners to your ski? I have, and no matter how I did it, I would always have a couple fastener inserts ( PlusNNuts) off axis from the hile int he mounting plate ( Arrrgggg.) I finally found a way that works for me.
If your bracket that has say, five holes for five fasteners, have the holes in your attachment plate drilled at same size at what is used for the hole in the ski body that is used to insert and lock in the anchoring PlusNut. (My drilled holes in the ski for for the PlusNuts are 23/64", so the holes in the mount plate were also 23/64.)
Here are the steps..... I was mounting up my front grillage
Step 1 Put my grillage plate onto the ski, and, holding it in position, use the already drilled hole through the grillage anchoring plate as a guide to drill the hole for the PlusNut through the ski body.
Step 2 Remove the plate/grillage and set the PlusNut.
Step 3 Re-mount the grillage back on the ski, and fasten the grillage to the ski using the Torx bolt fitted into the PLusNut I justg set.
Step 4 Go to the other side of my grillage, and jigger with the assy to "fit it" to the body. Holding it in place, and using the hole in the anchor plate as the guide, drill the hole for the next PlusNut.
Step 5 Remove the grill
Step 6 Insert and lock in the 2d PlusNut
Step 7 Remount the grillage to the ski. You should see the holes in the anchor plate match up with the 2 PlusNuts you now have in your ski.
Step 8 Fasten the grillage down at these 2 points and and go through the same process with the other mount holes in the anchor plate.
If you have a lot of fasteners, and depending on the warpage of your particular assy, you may find that even with this, things do not match up perfectly
Step 98 Take a drill that is large size than the holes in the grillage anchor plate, and over-drill those holes that are off center to the axis of the PlusNut. This gives you the needed slop in the anchoring plate that you need to get all the fasteners to engage the PlusNuts properly.
