To have fun, this is the most important 😉 To succeed in BJJ you don't need to be the most talented or gifted, but to do it as long as possible)

As a purple belt I already have a game set for most things so the way I'm trying to improve is working on concepts in the areas I'm not good at, like my standing game and when getting smashed passed, in the end of the day you have to training a little bit of what you don't like so that if it happens its not a end game for you. Great video!

you should make a takedown tierlist
@makekotor37223 ай бұрын
One concept I feel is most important is combinations both for offense and defense. If you're attempting a guard pass, submission, or escape then expect the first 2 maybe 3 attempts to fail. But if you have the muscle memory of 3-5 techniques in those positions and can put them together as one big movement then your chances of success are much better.

44 yr old, 5’5”, 170lb no-gi mid level purple here. I highly recommend seeing if you can start volunteering your time in an instructor role at high level blue to purple belt. I started working with the kids in the kids class and some teenagers and adults helping out at open mats. This change the way I trained, and helped me be way more deliberate at things I was unfamiliar with. Kids ask question most adults may be embarrassed to ask or just over overlooked. It forces one to look at BJJ in a very different way. Plus roll with a good 9 yr old with thin, tiny arms. It sucks if they catch a rear naked, and guess what you aren’t allowed to crush them or over power them. You have to use your techniques very methodically. Also try to arm bar a 9 yr old. You learn really quickly if your arm bar is trash. It will help you find your failure points.

That was actually golden advice. Thanks a lot mate!

Lol I'm 43yr old, 5'5 195lbs, lean, bb bjj wrestler, judo, muay thai, judo, mma etc. Training forever basically. Teaching, without a doubt, will get you so much better, if you can teach, and once you're at a certain skill level. Don't wanna start to early and teach bad habits and really need to understand the how's and why everything works. Competing helps improve alot also, if you're into that.

I am considering joint a bjj school. I have a question. How long would one have to study jujitsu to protect oneself? I realize it varies. How do you know how to choose a school that won’t use your and try to hurt you ? Thanks

You’re in more danger of breaking your neck and getting paralyzed on the drive to the gym. Don’t let the fear discourage, though it is valid, just be smart.

3:12 That's a beautiful ass Uchimata my guy, nothing spazzy here lol. Also, learning how to breakfall can probably be thrown in there for whitebelts to help protect themselves from full force impact when a Judo guy decides to pull some shit like that on you.

@JV-mi2wp3 ай бұрын
Honestly as a blue belt the leg lock tip is the reason i primarily do Gi as opposed to NoGi, it feels gimicky to me and like people put all their chips onto that one trick (call back to your earlier tip again) and their game suffers because they’re so focused on their opponents legs
@mrkingcoco67033 ай бұрын
Being a purple belt a useful tool is to have more than one game, understand when you need to flow and when you need pressure why work hard when your opponent understands and knows how to shut down pressure passing style but can't stop flowing or explosive style game
