I always purchase a seat for my child because I don’t want them on my lap for HOURS but 80% of the flights we’ve taken, my child’s seat has been forced to be given away to another adult. The one time I said no and threw a fit (as calmly as possible) I got kicked off the flight and had to wait in the airport with my 1 year old for 6 hours

1st time we flew with our girls 2 & 3 - I had NO CLUE!! We did buy them seats, they didn't check our 'car' seat. We were separated, I got our youngest & husband got the oldest. There was a gentleman next to us who entertained my daughter, he shared that they were having their first Grandbaby & he was not thrilled. At the end of the flight - he said I saw you get on this plane with that baby & all the curse words went thru my head! He thanked me for having such a good kid, and maybe being a Granddad wouldn't be so bad. He stepped out to unboard. We waited to be the last to get off the plane. When we were in the airport, there were a few people that were on the flight with us, they stopped us - in all honesty, I was not expecting anything good... They complimented the girls about how good they were! My babies were very proud of themselves! I was asked what's the secret was? Bribery! If my kids got compliment in public about their behavior, they got treats! They knew it & they WORKED it! My babies are 22yo & 20yo now the youngest STILL works the treat angle. ❤

It may or may not be a hazard, but it is an annoyance because it won’t let the person behind put down their tray table. If you get someone who wants to keep their child buckled for in the whole flight you then have a fight on your hands because you have permission for them to put it on in the first place. You wind up dealing with “I can’t believe you want my child to be unsafe just because you want to use your tray table!!!” 🙄

I've traveled a lot when my kids were little... I had never seem this thing. There was 1 time when I booked 3 seats together and the airline decided to split us up and refused to 1. Refund my fee for booking seats early. 2. Fix the problem. We boarded and got seated, my 2 year old and my 5 year old each in a different row of seats... the other passengers did not want to trade... (the kids were put into middle seats). This ended up delaying one departure, since they couldn't take off with kids unsupervised... in the end the cabin crew moved some people around and accommodated us together. They never refunded my booking fee...

On the one hand, this is absolutely unacceptable. On the other hand, I would probably have had the hatred of my life for you because the fact that you absolutely had to get your brood on the plane (which is brutally annoying anyway) is still delaying my flight. The solution to all problems is simply not to fly with toddlers. I would even pay extra for flights where no children are allowed. Every time some child screams half the flight, hits my seat or claws between the seats. I understand it if there is really no other option, but basically just don't fly with toddlers and don't make the lives of 120 people a real hell for the next 10 hours out of pure selfishness

Flight attendant here and per FAA rule a child 2 or under can be on your lap for take off and landing regardless if they bought a seat or not . Also lap child can’t be strapped in with you , just held on the lap or in your arms .

Checking your car seat pretty much guarantees it's broken upon arrival, and the only way for you to check is to crack it open, and then it's done either way. 3) your kid is used to sitting in their car seat and overall will have a much more enjoyable trip.

I've watched interviews of crash survivors who had to hold onto their child and knew that they were going to die in the crash one was even told to place them on the floor of the plane. Was on an 8 hour flight to the UK earlier this summer and a lady had 3 kids with her, all looked like they were under the age of 4. Overall, there was 2 seats for all 4 of them. Mom holding an infant and the 2 toddlers on the other seat. For 8 hours. And the toddlers were screaming the whole 8 hours. I felt so bad for her tbh that must’ve been rough. (Really wish she brought entertainment for them tho so they didn’t scream for 8 hours 😅😅)

My kids were always great on airplanes. Without them they wouldn’t have been able to visit their grandparents. If you are on “public transportation” it is open to the public! If you don’t like it rent a private airplane or drive yourself.

I’m going to take a stab and say that people would be more tolerant of a parent that scolds their child and tries their best to keep them well behaved instead of a child doing f-all with the parent acting helpless and saying “it’s a child!” A huge part of my annoyance is with the parent. If a child is acting up and you can see the parent doing everything they can to keep things under control, I’d be more tolerant.

I had a little kid standing in the seat where they were sitting and they were looking through the crack and sticking things through the crack to me and saying hi It was really cute but I was kinda confused why the mom wasn’t doing anything when he was standing on the seat she was just sitting there

reminder to still keep an eye on your child for most of the flight especially when they're sat next to a stranger. no harm or anything, i'm just salty about the kid beside me on a flight who slept sideway and kicked me about a hundred times in our 5 hour flight. The father was sleeping and told him not to but proceeded to kick me again :))
