@@vishwasparmar5618 both Oxford and Cambridge university Business schools value academic merit and a minimum 2 years worth of work experience greatly. They don’t care too much regarding your GMAT score IMO so long as you score anything above a 620!! I have a classmate who scored a 620 ,but she came from a very strong academic background in humanities (law) and worked for a magic city law firm (Clifford chance)

My GPA is 3.3 and GMAT is 780. I am 23, and when I was 20 I opened a charity foundation. I also worked as in invest analyst intern and financial analyst. I opened an IT startup when i was 19 and a moving company when I was 18. I got declined by Oxford, Harvard, Yale 😢. Don’t know what to do now, extremely depressed, but your videos hype me up. Thanks for posting another video. it is a huge help for my present situation. I am planning to get into one of M7 b-schools 4 years later to use it as a step stone to break into IBD, and the n hedge fund. However, I am so worried about my low GPA(2.98) that it will be a fatal obstacle to filter me out from candidates. The reason is because CS as my original major of undergrad didn't fit me at all, and switched into Sociology that I wasn't gravitated as well since I was an intl student can't afford to take time and money, so wanted to graduate quickly as much as possible. Omitting a background history, I acquired USCPA and got into Big 4 Audit recently, and planning to make work experience until the MBA admission. During the time, I am going to choose one of the two options to improve my application: 1.Get second bachelor of undergrad(finance) for the purposes of improving my GPA and getting base knowledge of Finance. 2.Get CFA to be familiar with finance concepts and to appeal my resilience and motivation to the admission office. 1st one: 3.3 gpa even if I passed all A, costly, time-consuming 2nd one: comparatively reasonable, needs time commitment but still manageable I don't have anyone around me who can discuss this issue. So, please give me some insights to help my decision.

Do not get a second degree. And do not get the CFA. Work on your CPA this year. Because of your extremely low gpa you are gonna need at least a 730 GMAT to get into a top 15 program. Do audit for 4-5 years and then apply to business school and hope the big 4 name and high gmat helps. Or do audit, then after 2-3 years switch to FDD. Also, are you an asian male?
@takumuumemoto2449 Жыл бұрын
@@accountsequity5587 Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate that. I took your options into consideration, but anyway I'm gonna put my mind to passing the CPA exam and get a job as an auditor. About the last question, yes, I'm an asian male. I've heard candidate's ethnic background influences on an application slightly a bit, but I hope i won't work in a bad way when I apply to.
@Zakrovik Жыл бұрын
Our work experience is similar. Though, I'm from SEA. I used to work in Big 4 audit, now I work in Big 4 Deals Advisory (FDDs). If I were you, I would recommend transferring to a deals team within your firm (though it maybe more difficult in the US than in SEA) or just transfer to the deals team in another Big 4 firm. Regarding CPA vs CFA. I've actually had this debate with myself and decided to get the CFA instead.

Really look at cost benefit analysis of doing now. Have 3 friends went to top MBA schools and not on a higher salary than entered and some never got into sector they wanted.
@rareliquid Жыл бұрын
depends, i know many people who are making way more post mba. plus there are many long term benefits but i do think people should be careful in that getting an mba isn't a guarantee of anything. you still have to work hard and at times get lucky

@@rareliquid Absolutey. However, I know a lot of people who already had a top Masters degree in niche subject (so MBA never had any technical advantage) and they were hoping to transition into a $300k-$500k plus private equity job. Fact is, that is not happening for many. Those were successful had some private equity exposure or something very closely related. A lot of dreamers are in for tough reality of the real world when they leave their business school bubble.

Given that someone is admitted to the school, will you be held you to your responses from your initial application e.g., "start a VC firm focused in the creative space"? For example, if you run into someone that knew about your application, I suppose it's understood to always have those responses/backup answers ready to go at all times, despite how "relaxed" an MBA program is right? I guess my question is, you really still can't let your guard down because you never know who you might meet right? Appreciate the content. Happy new year.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, every time you've spoken about AS you've mentioned how much it was a financial dumpster fire (among other things I'm not sure can be repeated), but your CV makes it seem not so bad. 1 return out of 500 and 8 out of 9 months of increasing sales sounds pretty good - unless you went from selling 1 a month to 2, and then to 3 and so on haha, but it doesn't look like that. Now I'm even more intrigued 🧐😅 Also, didn't you say you co-founder wrote your letter of recommendation, but that it was before you started rareliquid? I bet he was delighted you got in on his letter of recommendation but then saw how rareliquid was taking off and how you'd have less time with your MBA and thought, Ah, shit, I should've thrown Ben under the bus! 😂😂
