These have really become one of my favorite flowers in recent years!
Ranunculus are so pretty and really easy to grow. Plus, they're a great option for container gardening, so just about anyone can grow them.
If you're in zones 9 and 10, they're a cool season flower so we plant them in the fall to get spring blooms. As a bonus, they can be used year after year. You just dig up the corms and save 'em for the next fall!
They're pretty low-maintenance. You need to keep them moist, and the plants will let you know they're thirsty. They only take about a month to give you flowers! You can add a fertilizer as well, especially if you don't have really healthy soil.
Ranunculus make for great cut flowers. Come out early in the morning and give them a snip before the blooms have fully opened. This is also helpful to help the plant put energy into creating more blooms.
At the end of the season, you can either dig them out or dump the whole pot out. Pull out the bulbs and store them in a cool, dry place. That's it!

I grew Ranunculus for the first time this past winter and they were ridiculously easy to grow. The blooms were gorgeous. Good tip in video about saving the bulbs, storing them to use again following fall. I didn’t realize that and tossed mine away!

Brigette- have you visited the Carlsbad Flower Farm??? you must go, you are nearby. Acres of ranunculus. The farm is in bloom right now. You are so close! I lived in San Diego for 10 years, my husband raised there, and we never knew about it until recently as tourists visiting family from Texas! 😂

also, I love your idea of growing them in pots. I'm going to try that because right now I don't have room in my raised beds!!

I agree Ranunculi are such a beautiful winter spring flower. It’s autumn here and I will definitely be planting my corms this weekend. I will try the pre soaking method.

These were always my mom's favorite flowers. We went to the Flower Fields this year to see them, and I brought back several plants which have been blooming for over a month. I planted corms late and they are just coming up, and the East County is heating up a little, so I'm not sure how they will do. Hope springs eternal!

I bought some from some forms from the 99 cent store early last year and plated but didn’t get a full bloom. Only had one yellow one flower pop up this year and named it buttercup. 🙂 She’s so pretty.

I have the ones we got in the monthly seed club over the fall in pots. They aren't growing as well a thought they should be but now i know they need more water 😅 Also you have to join the monthly seed club if you haven't already!

Can you just leave the corms in the ground or pot? Or do they need to come out of the ground? I’m in 9b outside of Phoenix.

1:50 wait… you plant them and take them out? I don’t get it… you plant in fall- like October, then take them out in September (do you take them out for a month or for a whole 12 months later)… I don’t understand

Are they like daffodils they need to gather sun in the leaves for a few months prior to digging?
