I found this podcast on the weekend in the hunt for listening material at my level. And this is gold! Great speed. I like how you try to explain a point in several ways. Its actually really good for improving comprehension. ❤

Great podcast.i had a long distance relationship with a japanese girl 30 years ago for a long time
I’ve always had this question, what does the “と おもいます” mean at the end of the sentence ? Like “話したいと思います”. I learned 思う as “to think. But I don’t think your saying “I think I want to talk about…” (?). How would you translate the part around 1:34?

I think I was saying “I think I want to talk about ~~~” Maybe it sounds unnatural when you translate it, but a lot of Japanese people use this expression!!☺️👍

@@the_bitesize_japanese_podcast なるほど。It doesn’t translate to English well word for word, but it feels more like “I would like to talk about…” or “I am going to talk about…”. To an English speaker, “I think I’m going to talk about…” makes me feel like the person isn’t sure what they’re going to talk about, like they still haven’t decided on the topic yet, but that doesn’t seem like that’s what the speaker is trying to say. Thanks! I’ve been confused about this for so long😁
