Thank you in advance for your service to our country. I put in 30 years as a Registered Nurse, mostly ICU and the Operating Room. I looked into the Navy in 1994 but for some odd reason that I was never made aware of, my recruiter wanted me to look into serving on a nuclear sub. That was it for me - no way.

Stephen Pruszenski LoL, they probably needed to fill billets for nuclear subs!

Thank you for the info! I am applying and hopefully will be doing ODS this summer. As a woman, do you have to cut your hair?
@itsestelarojas47134 жыл бұрын
Erin Duffey No, you don’t have to cut your hair for ODS.

Hi! I don’t know if you have a video about this, but can you do one about the swim testing at ODS? For us non prior people 😅
@itsestelarojas47132 жыл бұрын
Hi! The swim test consists of jumping from a high platform, can’t remember how many feet it was, swimming 50 yards using any swim stroke, and floating/treading water. If you don’t pass the swim test the instructors work with you to make you more comfortable and proficient. But, I recommend being comfortable in the water before.

Thank you for the tips! How much money do you recommend we bring to ODS?

You’re welcome! I would say about $2000-$4000

thank you, very helpful. What about the firefighting or wet trainer trainings? Is that for select students. I will be in the medical service corp so not sure that applies to me or not? thank you again.

Hello! Yes, you will have to go through the firefighting and wet trainer trainings as well. Everyone in ODS, regardless of your specialty goes through it.

Those are things you need to know. If the ship is on fire, no one gives a shit if you are an officer or medical for that matter. You will be on fire teams and will be on deck fighting.
