Thank you for the information!!! In your opinion, how long it takes to get prepared for the exam, i graduated from University in 2008? Thank You So much!!!

Hey Luis! I’m glad you liked the video. Sorry for the late response too! So given that you graduated in 2008, it will take you longer to study than most other test takers. I imagine you haven’t done much integration or circuit problems in the past 12 years, so it will take some time to shake off the rust and relearn those subjects. I would highly recommend getting one of those large FE review manuals I discussed in the video, and start doing those bench mark tests that are at the beginning or end of each chapter. These will assess how much knowledge you have retained in the past 12 years. My guess is that you will need to go through each chapter and relearn most of the concepts. If you are able to put in a little bit of study time each day, I think you could be ready in about 3 to 4 months.

Thank you for the info; great video. In your opinion, how long it takes to get prepared for the exam for a recent graduate? Also, what is the requirement to get EI certificate after passing FE? Thank You So much!!!

I’m glad you found the video helpful!! I spent about two months studying for the FE, and I think that should be plenty of time if you are able to put in a little bit of studying everyday. I highly recommend getting the practice test from the NCEES website, and take that practice exam like you would the test. With time limits and everything. You should do this after you have finished studying all the sections, and you want to see how well you are prepared for the exam. If you score at least a 65 on that practice exam, then you are in good shape to pass the FE. That practice exam is very close to the rigor of questions you’ll see on the test. As to your second question, it depends on the state that you register in. The big requirements that every state has is that you have graduated from an ABET accredited college, and you have passed the FE exam. Once you have passed the FE exam, you can submit your application to your state. The state will require you to fill out some forms as well as provide proof of those two items. If you google “engineering intern requirements in (your state)” it will give you direction as to what you need to do in order to get that EI certificate. Let me know if you have any other questions!

It should take me two months to go through the material. I graduated 20 years ago. For some of the FE EE material, I do not recall seeing before.

Hi Logan , I have question regarding topics need to study I have new FE book green yellow of Electrical and computer. in this book under Topic "Probability and Statistics", it covers all topic which is part of "Environmental" discipline. should I avoid extra topic? as per Author I have to read all topics which are in BLUE color. I have 75 days to prepare . every day I will study 5 hours and on weekend 10-12 hours per day. would this enough ? Syllabus of ECE: Probability and Statistics 4-6 A. Measures of central tendencies and dispersions (e.g., mean, mode, standard deviation) B. Probability distributions (e.g., discrete, continuous, normal, binomial, conditional probability) C. Expected value (weighted average) Syllabus of "Environmental" Probability and Statistics 4-6 A. Measures of central tendencies and dispersions (e.g., mean, mode, standard deviation) B. Probability distributions (e.g., discrete, continuous, normal, binomial) C. Estimation for a single mean (e.g., point, confidence intervals) D. Regression (linear, multiple), curve fitting, and goodness of fit (e.g., correlation coefficient, least squares) E. Hypothesis testing (e.g., t-test, outlier testing, analysis of the variance)

Thank you for the like and comment! I unfortunately can not talk about specific questions that I saw during my exam. There is a non-disclosure contract that you sign when you take the FE; however, I can recommend some books. The two books that I have listed in the video description were great for me when I was studying, and I would highly recommend purchasing the practice test that the NCEES website offers. This practice test will give you a pretty good idea of how prepared you are. If you get above 65% correct on that practice exam, you should feel confident about the test. I also made a video about how to effectively use your calculator on the exam, and that video can be found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3uwkGmXir2GsLM I hope you found this helpful!

Isn't the exam closed book? are you allowed to have a paper copy of the reference handbook in the exam day?

After you passed the FE Exam did NCEES send any kind of documentation in paper that you are certified as an electrical engineer now?Just curious if you got a certificate from NCEES.
@loganrempe9625
@loganrempe9625 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Abraham! I’m still not certified as an electrical engineer as I still have to pass the PE exam and gain 4 years of experience in the industry. However you can become a certified EIT (Engineer in Training) or EI (Engineering Intern) after passing your FE. These names vary depending on which state you register in. The NCEES doesn’t send out any paper documentation after you pass your FE exam though. If you want to become an EIT or EI you’ll still need to register with the state that you work in. I live in TN, so I had to follow the process outlined here: www.tn.gov/commerce/regboards/architects-engineers/license-applicant-resources/types-of-licenses/engineer-interns.html Just to be clear, passing your FE doesn’t make you an EI or EIT. Your state gives you that title after you submit your qualifications. In TN, they sent me a certificate after I was approved. I hope this was helpful!

Are you talking about the PDF handbook or a physical copy of the handbook? When you create an account on NCEES you should be able to download a free PDF copy of the handbook. Here is the link: ncees.org/engineering/fe/ On this page, go down to the "Reference materials and exam prep" section and it will give you a link to create an account. Once you've created your account, look under "Useful Documents" on the right side of your screen and there will be an option for "Reference Handbooks". If you want a physical copy of the book, I believe you'll have to pay for it. I hope this helps!

Did you bother in reviewing concepts for the exam? Or literally just pounded out questions?
@loganrempe9625
@loganrempe9625 4 жыл бұрын
Great question. Whenever I started reviewing, I separated each topic out and would do a benchmark of questions on that topic to see how much I still remembered. If I got most (~70%) correct, I would move to the next topic. If I didn’t get 70% correct I would review that concept. Once I did this with all the topics, I worked out a ton of practice questions.
