Hey guys! Happy New Year! 🎊For the first video of 2025, I felt it was the perfect time to share these super important tips and mistakes to avoid with you guys! I really wanted this video to be on the more raw and blunt side as these are things I wish I had someone tell me when I was first starting out. I always try to be extremely honest with you guys, even if that means giving you some tough love or hard pils to swallow. Wishing you all success and happiness on your small business journeys and if you have any more questions, leave them in the comments below!❤

New subbie here and my first time watching your video. Thank you for slapping sense in to me, u didn't have to go off like that 😅. I wish I saw this video 2 years ago. This was beyond resourceful for many reasons because I literally did all the things you said not to do. I love the aesthetics, organization, and all of the information in such a quick video. Back to the drawing board I go.

Thank you so much for these tips, I’m planning to start a business this year, I’m so hesitant but if I don’t move and do something it will never happen and you are so right never trust anyone and talk about plans, most of the time it’s the people around you who wants to see your fall

Exactly! It’s very unfortunate but I learned the hard way that the strangers on the internet were so much more supportive than the people around me. This is why I always try to keep things quiet! Don’t let this stop you or bother you though, you keep on going!❤️

Thank you. I know you have recently experienced some really bad things. I just want to let you know I appreciate you continuing to share your information to help others grow in spite of thieves out there. I lot of people would have just quit sharing altogether. I appreciate your insight and tips. I would have never thought of some of the things you share. Keep up the good work! 💟

Great advice!!! I own and formulate my skincare company. I share some recipes BUT I want people to learn how to formulate! It took me almost 2 years to formulate some of my natural products and there is no way I would just give all that hard work away!! Small business is daily hard work and I think those that just want things handed to them won't succeed! Keep up the awesome work! ~jc

Yes i love the keep quiet tip. Family is definitely a negative sorry to say. Im definitely in the reasearch phase. The logo and business name is truly a hard one to figure out for me. Thanks for the video

I hope it's ok to jump on and give a little advice on this, but try not to let the logo pull you back if you can! I know it's hard, but it's really something you can change with time like Noelle (and us just last month!) did, in my opinion! The business name, though, is better to not change because people would know you more by that than your Logo, so think well on that - tho I've also seen someone change theirs and it seemed to go well for her, thankfully, so sometimes even that's changeable I guess!

Thank you for these tips! We run a small art business too and the one about keeping your social media clean was a bit of a wake up call: I already tried to not follow irrelevant pages, but I definitely browse and search for other things, haha! gotta stop that >

Another side note about social media accounts for your business, make sure you clearly check whether you are posting items to your personal accounts versus your business accounts. I've tried browsing and liking comments not realizing I was on my business account. I tend to comment more on this personal channel so I'm not self-promoting my small business on other small business creator accounts. But I've had moments where I've had to delete and repost comments on here instead lol Luckily, my profile pictures are different so I notice fairly quickly when I see the wrong pfp XD

Great video, really helpful. What I'd really like is for someone to do a video going right back to the first few days of their business. What they made and sold and how they got the word out. It's quite difficult watching people who are successful and have been doing it a while. It makes me feel I need to be at that level too! I ask questions sometimes when I don't know what the "thing" is called so I can't google it. I have only just found your Channel so I have a lot of your videos to watch! I may find the answers yet!

This was very informative. Question, do you draw your own images (procreate, adobe illustrator) or use images from sites like Canva, creative fabrica To compose your designs? I find that is what’s holding me back from taking the first step. Thank you!

I absolutely enjoy watching your videos. I'm trying to rebrand and start up my new shop this year but I'm taking my time and doing the research and stuff. I did have a logo but after watching this, I think I'm going to go back and just make it more simple instead of making it busy like I had it. I hope you had a safe and Happy New Year......stayed home here which was good. Looking forward to seeing what comes our way this year as far as entrepreneurs.

Get your product first then work backward to figure out the size for your packaging materials. Also, depending on the packaging sizes you have, shipping prices will vary too. So consult with the shipping service you want to work with, what their typical shipping rates are, etc. Businesses are incredibly person-specific. Her demographic is different, her business is state-specific, product-specific, material availability-specific, and so on. Don't try to sell someone elses' business ideas, create your own that you enjoy. If you try to copy everything someone else does then how on Earth do you intend to stay in business? You should be creating a business that you like and are passionate about because others will appreciate how personally connected you are to what you are selling. For instance, (as a random example) say you are trying to sell a die-cut stickers and you copy someone else who makes their stickers 5 x 5 you get 100 for $151 but another website allows you to get 100 5 x 5's for $125. Because you tried to copy the one person's personal preference you missed out on finding a better, more affordable deal for yourself. Or you got her box size, then ordered your products but the boxes don't fit your item because you didn't measure it. Another example is my own small business I'm trying to start. It has been incredibly difficult to find a company to produce boxes in the size I need. My box size requirements are over most companies' max box size. I literally found only 1 company that would actually make the boxes the size I need. However, after lots of research, I found a YT channel that sells a similar item to mine. He disclosed how to make my own boxes cheaper using cardboard flats. It is more work but in the long run I will be saving SO much money on the boxes and on shipping my product to customers. Had I not done my research I would have only been able to get 10 premade boxes for the amount that I had to spend getting 100 cardboard flats!!!! It was $130 just for 10 boxes, but because of him, I could now get 100 cardboard flats at around the same price including the shipping. Also, the premade boxes are thicker which adds to the price of shipping. In the same video, he said when he used premade boxes one time it cost him $40 to ship the product to someone because of the additional weight and because of where they lived. You can access all the info you need between Google and KZbin. As well as all of the online learning sites! Not to mention going out and talking to your personal target market! It's fine to take inspiration from others, but ask your target market what they want from you. Say you build your branding around the color yellow but your target audience despises the color so they don't buy your products. Or say you want extravagant packaging materials but your audience wants minimal packaging that they can recycle easily. But you already wasted money on tons of packaging materials and freebies that they complain about. Don't buy things just because another creator has it buy things that make sense for you and your customer base. Even I've already dropped the ball buying things I didn't end up needing. Again with my example of my boxes, I was expecting to have bigger boxes initially so I bought honeycomb packaging paper. But because I ended up with the flats/ homemade boxes, I actually don't need the honeycomb paper. The homemade flat boxes are tight around my item to the point where the honeycomb paper won't add much protection. But now since I rushed to get it because I saw other small business content creators using it, I have to use it up and cut my loss with it. It makes sense for their products but not mine! Had I not switched up my packaging and done more research first I could have saved my money on it. Luckily, I didn't get too much of it but it was a lesson learned for sure.
