These 6 tips for tryouts I've accumulated over the 10+ years of evaluating talent. While I've done this for lacrosse it has merit across all sports for the players that want to know, "How do I make the team during tryouts?" These 6 tips for tryouts will help you calm the nerves and stand out from the crowd. It's a bit of the secret sauce that the coaches are looking for at tryouts. Best of luck to you all!

I’m trying out for a team today and everyone knows they are really good, all of them have been playing since they were 8 and i started playing last year. I’m really nervous but i do think i’m good enough, i was starting on my school team and we have a lot of good players. Thank you

I watched this video for last years tryouts and I ended up making the team. Tomorrow i’m trying out for the same team, but I was injured for the whole summer season so I needed to come back and get some tips. Thank you for the help!

You can't control the outcome, only what you put into it. Give it your best and let the chips fall where they may. I once cut a player and asked him to prove me wrong next year. Next season he made the team, and eventually played in college. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

And would it be wrong if I wore some shorts that make me pop out to get the coaches attention

Trust in yourself. You need to believe in yourself before others can believe in you. You don't need to be cocky, but you need to be confident that you belong here and it will show. I really like the idea of an accent pop. Shorts will definitely stick out, but IMO shorts may be too much. You won't be the only one with bright shorts either. However neon socks, wrist band, head band, tape, something that's more of an accessory that stands out may make you noticeable but different than the others. Can't go wrong either way, because in the end its your game that you are going to make shine. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

The best preparation is practice. Sounds like you've done that part. Tryouts is just lacrosse, play the sport you know how to play and let the rest take care of itself. Believe in yourself and just do you. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

Awesome. Then your job is challenge. Challenge yourself and your team to get better. Off-season is a great place to start the work.
