Naturally occurring woody cover like laydowns are prime bass fishing cover but can be challenging to fish with conventional baits like jigs and spinnerbaits. Wired2fish's Mitch Anderson makes his case for fishing laydowns using a light swim jig paired with a bulky trailer to better "float" and "worm" his lure through a tangle of fish-holding branches.
TACKLE USED
• JIG - Advantage Swim Jig: wired2.fish/Ad...
• TRAILER - Strike King Magnum Rage Bug: wired2.fish/SK-...
• ROD - 13 Fishing Omen Black 3 Casting Rod, 7'5" MH: wired2.fish/Om...
• REEL - 13 Fishing Inception Casting Reel: wired2.fish/13...
• LINE - Sufix 131 G-Core Braided Line: wired2.fish/Su...

• TROLLING MOTOR - MotorGuide Tour Trolling Motor: wired2.fish/Mo...
• SUNGLASSES - Costa Del Mar Reefton Sunglasses: wired2.fish/Re...
Whereas conventional jigs tend to plummet through the branches and a spinnerbait or ChatterBait lack the depth control, a properly rigged swim jig can be fished through, over, and under branches with utmost stealth and depth control. In addition to tackle recommendations, Anderson explains his preference for targeting laydowns adjacent to deep water and the importance of working each tree from a few different angles.

Another awesome video! My last like 5 videos have all been swim jig. I like the 6th Sense Divine Swim Jig but this is the first year I’ve really been throwing it. I can say I always have one tied on. It seems to work in literally all conditions.

One thing from watching fishing videos on KZbin is I can tell when they get a bite by focusing on the rod tip. I used to watch my line when fishing, now I watch my rod tip more. I think I have noticed more light strikes from doing this. Watch his rod tip at kzbin.info/www/bejne/npWpdpujZrmhd8U
