Tips on Customizing Invoice Reminders in QuickBooks Online - My Cloud Bookkeeping

I was excited to find this video as it seems to solve the problem I am having, but when I pull up an invoice in my QBO I am not seeing the reminders section. Is this a feature for a certain version?

Hi Rachel, apologies for the delay responding - I was at the QuickBooks Online conference! This is a function you need to turn on - go to the gear icon on the top right, and then the Sales tab - you should have the option to turn on invoice reminders near the bottom of the page. Let me know if you don't find it - what version do you have? I checked in the Essentials, and it was there.

@@MyCloudBookkeeping Thank you for getting back to me. I do have auto reminders turned on in the settings on the sales tab. We have Quickbooks Online Advanced. It looks like you are in Canada? Maybe its not available on my US version?

The ability to change the reminders for a customer individually does not work for me. If I change one, from the specific invoice it changes all of them. I am doing the same thing as shown in the video but again, it is changing it for all invoices. Is there something else to it? Can you show a video that shows you changing one and it not changing it on all of them?

Hi CMS - you can't change the actual reminders, only which ones go out for the specific invoice. You can turn them on and off. The reminders themselves remain the same. Hope that helps!

@@MyCloudBookkeeping Hi :) I can confirm the same situation on my end (QB Online - Canada Edition). If I create one invoice with 1 reminder, then a second invoice with 2 reminders, this will automatically set the first invoice (and all others) to 2 reminders. Far from ideal.

@@mathieupage2172 I am not sure what your question is. Are you changing the reminders globally or by invoice? Changing the reminders on an individual invoice would be unlikely to retroactively change the reminders for prior invoices.

@@MyCloudBookkeeping I was just playing with this feature this morning. Unfortunately, if I change it for one client on their specific invoice, it changes it in the settings for all my clients. This is on the online version of QB. I was excited too, but unfortunately, it doesn't work the way we'd ideally like to use it.

The settings are universal. The only thing you can change for a particular customer invoice is the reminders that you use. For example if you set up 7 days, 10 days, and 15 days you may choose to skip the 7 day on one of your customers. Hope that helps!
