I donate baskets to charities as a way to reach a wider customer base. I also contact real estate agents if they would like to have a closing gift basket. I give them the first one and after that they order them. Building contractors also use gift basket as thank you.

Best advice I can give you is to go and attend a few to see how the flow of them are, and check out how others set up. As far as how much inventory, how I’ll be based on trial and error when you actually attend one as a vendor

I used to make and donate large, themed gift baskets for a silent auction for a club I belonged to. I wasn't selling baskets then, but this is an idea for promoting your business, if you belong to a club/organization. I made gift baskets for other events for them, too, and everyone loved them. It was a military organization, and they held an annual amputee veterans' golf tournament to raise money for veterans. When Game of Thrones was popular, I made a Game of Wines basket. When I was looking for ideas, I walked into a grocery store that had Game of Thrones mead with a beautiful GOT label. That's where I got my theme! I put that, a bottle of wine, and gourmet shelf-stable foreign food snacks based on some of the GOT characters,things you'd snack on while drinking wine, and two Dollar Tree wine goblets, coordinating paper napkins and matching small paper plates. I decorated the basket with faux grapes around the rim, and made a medieval-looking paper shield label with Game of Wines printed on it. I don't know how much the winning bid was, but people told me how beautiful it was and it got a lot of attention. The last one I made for them was a huge by the fireside for two basket (the event was in late August so I went for Fall-themed stuff). It was inspired by finding a Fall-colored throw blanket at 90% off, then at the same store, very long marshmallow toasting sticks, and maple-flavored marshmallows. Two Dollar Tree wine goblets and other items completed the basket. I love to walk into a store to find inspiration for gift baskets!

I about fainted yesterday when researching on being a vendor at a local event and it was 175.00 for a 7 x 6 space for 1 day...I may have to sell out of the back of my SUV. I definitely understand taking naps. I have done that many of days, when I was creating baskets and centerpieces. Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with people being impressed by my talent. People always wanted a discount and when I would explain that my time is worth money they would refuse to order from me . Especially family. But, in the last few years things have gone bad for me financially and health wise.. So, until I can get back on my feet I can only dream of success.. Yes, I have a full time job and have my basket business so I’m always exhausted. Thanks so much I am going to vendor events, festivals, and also been selling at my job. I definitely need to promote more. Some festivals in my area are free or less than $30 so I love it!
