I bought a bunch of echeveria after thorough research then after doing more I read how they don't fair well in shade and I started worrying 😅 any suggestions or should I follow your most helpful tips? I also live in Central Florida! I'm new to this and I have a porch but can't get sunlight due to a huge tree from neighbors yard. Other than that it provides shade and I get sun in other areas of the backyard. Also do you leave your echevarias outside during winter?

Investing in a shade cloth will really help to avoid stretching and to get the right growth on your echeverias (and other succulents) those can be tough and sensitive in our sunlight. I'm going to do a video soon on growing these in our sun and climate because it's so different from everyone else. I know it's a very common issue people are having and I'd love to help in anyway I can.

Shade is not a good idea, your right. It can cause stretching especially when exposed to a lot of it.. but I do recommend morning sun until about 1 or 2pm, with a shade cloth. Giving an afternoon break from the sun. I have a video on this somewhere. I'll have to link it below for you. I use the shade cloth that blocks out 90-100% of the harmful UV rays. It works wonders and has saved a lot of my plants. I was loosing so many in the beginning. A good soil mix really helps too and the right pots/pot size. I'll also be covering this in the video😉 We have 2 new puppies running around, so I'll need a week or two to catch up. I have other requests but this is top of the list because it's such a common question I get. I know the struggle and I feel your frustration. I went through so many fails in my first yr of growing succulents and cacti before I found the right methods that worked for me. I'm always here to help. Lmk if you need anything else😉🦋🌼

Echeveria Perle von Nurnbergs can be a bit tough sometimes, with their really plump leaves. They don't require much waterings and are very drought tolerant when established.

I have an Echeveria at home, and it was getting really tall, I was told to cut the top off and replant it. But I did that in the winter, and now my plant isn't growing roots and looks very unhappy, I think I am killing it but not sure what I did. Is it because they don't grow in the winter? (which I didn't know until you said :( ) I don't want to kill my beautiful Echeveria, so any help would be awesome, thank you for your video!

I'm sorry to hear your Echeveria is not doing well. Since most Echeveria varieties actively grow in the summer and you've already propagated the top rosette, you can plant her up in some succulent soil & a terracotta pot. If it was me, I'd leave her alone for a bit and see if she roots in the soil. (Usually within a week to 2 weeks for some). I keep a lot of my Echeverias in 6-8 hrs of direct sun to avoid stretching. Some can tolerate 6hrs and some like 8rs better, depending which echeveria it is, as there are so many 😊 How long has it been since you cut her off the stem? Did you water the soil, a few days before taking the top rosette? If not, her leaves will probably become pretty deflated from not having enough water storage in them. Succulents without roots are unable to take up water, which is why watering before hand is important, so it has enough water to survive, until it grows some roots. My motto is, "no roots no water" because they will just be sitting in wet soil, unable to take it up. ( I can usually tell if a succulent/cactus has rooted, by tugging gently on the stem to see if there is tension, if so, there is usually some roots, if it pulls right out without tugging too hard, it's usually not rooted yet and I leave it alone for about another week. Repeat if needed, but try to avoid pulling it out of the soil too much because doing so can damage the tiny sensitive roots. Patience and time should heal her wounds 🤗 I'm here if you need anything! Don't hesitate to ask!

Hi, I've recently bought one and the bottom leaves have started dropping off. Some of them have shrivelled and dropped off, the most recent still look quite plump. I now have a little gap at the bottom. Can you give me any tips
@existent-o9y
@existent-o9y 4 жыл бұрын
i believe that's normal. it could also be due to under watering, how often do you water it?
@Hargzee
@Hargzee 4 жыл бұрын
@@existent-o9y not often, once twice a month but they all ended up dropping off so I'm now propagating a leaf.

What type of soil is it planted in? That could have a lot to do with it too.

I have a problem! Underneath her bottom leaves are several tiny little green things. If they are more baby plants, won't they fall away and die when I try to repot?
@StaceyHerewegrowagain
@StaceyHerewegrowagain 3 ай бұрын
They might get damaged if handled too roughly. You'll have to be very ginger when repotting one with such tiny babies. You can also wait until they get a little bigger if your afraid of damaging the baby plants. It's ultimately up to you when your making decisions for your plants 😊
@StaceyHerewegrowagain

Usually my succulents do pretty well when repotting with baby's starting to emerge. I just handle them carefully and try not to disturb anything too much, except for tickling the very bottom of the roots, leaving the sides in tact. This just helps the sucuclent adjust to the new pot. I know many people that repot with baby's. They will eventually end up growing back if they do fall off.. succulents are extremely resilient with the exception of a few.

My daughter trapped over my Perle von nunberg...All the leaves at the top broke off...the under leaves are left...I'm trying to progate the broken leaves for 2 weeks now...i still see no roots growing...This was one of my fav succulents...because of its pinkish color...The mother plant is still intact...Will she grow normal as if she was'nt trapped on....But i see something on her...where the leaves came off..Something ..like an off shoot...Not sure yet what it is...it is still teenie tiny...I hope the best for her.😏😏...Tfs your big echeveria...😍😘😘...Ps...Mine was still in her 2" nursery pot.😕😕...

Awe I'm so sorry to hear that. I've nocked and tripped over my succulent pots so many times, breaking the leaves and stems but they always seem to come right back with a little bit of tlc. If the plant looks ok and is just missing some leaves on the bottom, she should come back just fine. The leaves that fell off should propagate as long as they are in tact, sometimes it just takes a lot longer than we would like 🤗 My Echeverias usually take about 2 weeks to 3 weeks to start showing signs of a baby. As far as the plant itself, there are probably baby plants/offshoots starting to grow from the stem where the leaves fell off. That's a great sign she's not too sick and should recoup in no time. I'm always here if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.

My echeveria von nernburg is wilting I don't know what to do ITS humid here in Hawaii ,I checked the roots and stem ,it has a bright pink spot on one side ,but doesn't look rotted , All the leaves are wrinkling and won't absorb water, I finally gave it some after a week. I changed the soil, I cannot figure out what's wrong. It was perfect up until a few weeks ago. Help
@StaceyHerewegrowagain
@StaceyHerewegrowagain 3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like it could be the soil.. its hard to say without seeing it.. it usually happens to me when I don't mix enough drainage material mixed into it. Sometimes the leaves won't absorb nutrients because the roots are so unhappy.. are you using a succulent and cactus based potting mix? Did you add any extra drainage when you repotted? Like pumice or perlite? I use the miracle gro succulent soil with added perlite and pumice.. sometimes I like to add a scoop of regular potting soil in there as well (burpees organic potting mix is the type of regular soil I use).

When the soil dries out completely to the bottom and the succulents leaves start becoming wrinkly.. That's when I know it's time to water. The amount of waterings I give let week all depend on the type of succulent it is and what conditions it's growing in.
