Just wanted to add… BRING A WATCH! If it’s a no electronics camp like mine, everyone is going crazy about the time of day by the end of the first week. 100% the item people most regret not bringing. Edit: Back from camp and it’s also a good idea to bring baby powder and sharpies (for shirt signing).

Games are definitely important! I would add sanitary pads if your child or their friends are in an age where there is any chance they might start their period. Of course they could also ask the camp counselors but asking and telling your friends is definitely a bonding experience. And a book or two to read alone or with friends.

I know I’m late but funny story, at my first summer camp my mom asked if I should bring pads and I said no because I’m “not gonna get my period in three days” I also didn’t bring my phone and the first morning I woke up to bloody underwear so even if you don’t think you need them STAY SAFE 😂

Some of my favorite off the list suggestions are collapsible cubes(love those for organizing shoes, accesories, etc), an off the bed organizer(holds books, waterbottles, etc), a shower caddy+ shower shoes, packing cubes, frienship string, pictures of friends/family/fairy lights, an off the door hook for your towels and things in the shower, a hanging toiletry organizer, and little pillows to decorate with. Sometimes sleeping bags can be helpful to use as cushion to make camp mattresses more comfortable.

@@bananabuttersomethin Hey. Trust me, it works. I didn't mean you had to bring everything. It just makes it easier especially if you are going for a long time. I have been going for almost 7 years now! That is just what works for me. I think you are taking this too seriously. Lol. Also, it isn't that much if you look at it all out in one place. It just looks like a lot and is just a suggestion. You need more than what you might think. I am very organized and hate messy bags, so that is just what helps that.

Another tip is to spray your bunk with bug spray when you get there- it helps to ward off bugs overnight. Hope this helps!

I may not be a mom but this past month I was a camp counselor at a sleep away camp and LOVED IT! I was also a camper for 9 years so I picked up a thing or two when it came to packing! Here is my personal must haves that are not on the packing list at camps (my camp was always a month long so it’s a little bit different) -a mirror of your own: especially with girls, mini mirrors are needed cause girls can hog the big ones -a PLUG IN fan for at night- the cabins can get HOT with that many people in one room. At my camp there were outlets in the cabins so I would recommend a fan -an extension cord: even though there are outlits, they may be far from your bed area so bringing an extension cord was a LIFESAVIOR pics of fam/friends- this helped my campers/ when I was a campers have a happy reminder of home if they ever happen to miss it. -TIDE PENS: Presley said something about her clothes getting stained and when I was a camper/ my campers were always the same way tide pens can REALLY help that situation if there is something that gets on your clothes. Shower shoes- a must. no explanation needed. A mini backpack: usually at camp you are out of the cabin for hours at a time, having a mini backpack with all the essentials you may need is largely helpful and helps you from losing things Those are some of the main points but I hope this helps!

If in your bunk you have shelves for your clothes I definitely recommend storage cubes. They are so helpful they keep you organized all the time. I would also recommend a watch, and an iPod (with headphones).

Pro tip! For long camps like this, to help keep clothes organised, get a dancer dream-duffel! It’s like that trunk, but it comes with a clothes hanger built in that you just pull up, and attach the bar, and it comes with a mini stool that you could also use as a bedside table! It may be a bit more expensive, but it’s SO worth it. It also comes with a suitcase pull-handle, so you don’t have to carry it around! If you get the large size, it can also fit SO MUCH STUFF! So yeah, I say that it would be a good idea.

Another thing, if they don’t offer to do laundry and the kids are a bit older, take wash paste. When I go to camp (10-20 days) I nerver forget to bring it. We always travel to different countries (form Germany to Italy like this year) so it’s easier to just bring less clothes and wash them. Another thing is to have extra space. At kids camps a lot of crafts and souvenirs that need to come home

Also, you should bring a smaller bag with things you need to Bering to activities like a water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray etc. this was SO helpful also a random ziplock bag that you can put your mask in :)

I went to a week away band camp. It was fun but also a nightmare, the water would always run out, and all we would have left was well water, especially bad when your lips are super chapet from playing a Flute like me. Make sure you always have water! 👍🏻

My mom used a set of plastic drawers for us to pack in instead of a bag. One drawer for clean clothes, one for toiletries, towels, and other necessities, and the third drawer for dirty clothes.

If your going camping make sure that if you can pick your cabins think about how long there gonna take in showers and if they sleep in or take forever to change. Also you should definitely take a snack and a walkman or airpods with you if you cant take electronics and maybe also take some stuffed animals to sent with so then when your sleeping you can have something sented near you.
