I love having a BOB to practice stuff like a liver shot. I like to do a roundhouse with the ball of the foot or even toes if I'm wearing boots . Even if you are just training for self defense this is a GREAT tool to have in your box. Most people will bow up on you real close , arms down and chin up . If you can't move back just dig in to the liver . Untrained people won't even see it coming , they'll be looking at your face .

Honestly if you practice on a cadaver or a model skeleton you realize that the hip and ribs do such a great job and to get a closed fist to reach the spine with out catching on something is a very precise angle and must be done carefully. The Thai clinch is like a measuring sqaure mirror to help get a feel and measurement. The angle of your elbow and wrist is like holding a full cup of coffee with out spilling.
