I go even more vintage than those wayfarer 2s. I’m still rocking the old 5024s. Mine were made in the 60s and pre date the bl on the lenses. I’m using the 2140s 50mm as my glasses.

Misleading video. Many older ray bans don't have branding on the temple.

I have a pair I bought in the 70's; Wayfarer with turquoise arm bands. I rarely wear them because they're so heavy. But, they look great!

I have the Bausch&Lomb 54mm Wayfarer that I wear a lot but I have some oversized Serge Kirchhofer sunglasses that I get compliments from all the time. I like the vintage Dior Moniseur models to.

Those are not Wayfarers on Kennedy's face. I'm not sure what they are, but I remember I researched it at one point, and they're not Ray Bans at all.

Hi I have a pair with only "wayfarer" written so what does that mean they are older than the II?

i just found a pair of wayfarers in amazing condition at goodwill. very rare to find ray bans that slipped through the net like that, so good for me. i can't tell when they were made though..? inside of the frame, top right above the lens is marked "B&L 5022". left arm inside says "WAYFARER". right arm inside says "B&L RAY BAN U.S.A". tortoise framed with the greenish G-15(?) lenses that feel like glass to me. everything looks right, everything feels right.. i've owned 80's era wayfarers and the build quality is top notch. far better than anything today. there's no lens engraved "B&L" though, even though they don't appear to have been replaced by my eyes. there's no "ray bans" logo on the temple.. or anywhere else but the right arm inside. i know they are legit, but i'm stumped on the time frame they are from. these are as close to perfect condition wise as i've ever had. the heft and the shine is just incredible. i look at these and think JFK more than Tom Cruise.. any ideas?

They’re probably circa 1990.

I think they started engraving the B&L in the 60s or 70s, so you might have a much older model. Especially if they remind you more of the JFK glasses. In the first years the Wayfarer's used to have very thin temples. They look like the ones on the Clubmaster.

Based on what I've read online they are probably 60's or 70's, wayfarer 1. they started engraving BL into the lenses in late 1970's. I found a pair at a thrift store too and they have the tiny BL logo etched onto the lens. Yours are definitely older!

80's vintage Wayfarer II do not have the metal Rayban logo on the front of the arms. They have the same metal post (rectangle/diamond shape) as on the front of the frames. The 'Vintage Wayfares in this video are from circa 2000 on IIRC.

lear60man the first decade of wayfarers day by have the rectangular diamond shape, they have a hook flame shape post. Very rare and vanished quite early.

I can only find Wayfarer II's with the logo on the arms. Most of the regular B&L Wayfarer's I found have the diamond studs. I'd really like to know when they started putting the logo on the arms instead of the diamond. According to Wikipedia it started in 2007 when they brought the Original Wayfarer back. I'd also like to know when they stopped the Wayfarer production. In 1999, when Ray Ban was sold to Luxottica or 2001 when they replaced the original with the New Wayfarer?

How accurate can this source be when the photo of JFK show him wearing a brand from the era named American Optical, NOT RayBan. Do your homework!
