When a physical injury prevents us from doing our preferred activity it can certainly "get us down", why? The tips shared were great for trying to "replace" or "distract" while we heal but why do we get so down in the first place? For so many, our activity is an attempt to "feel valuable". It took me 15-years of triathlon to figure this out. "If I finish another race, a bigger race, THEN I'll be valued.... and loved." The reality is, people can live to 80+ years without being regular exercisers. While it supports our physical health, it is not required. So why do it? It feels good. We enjoy it. And many other reasons. But deep down, "the more extreme the behavior, the deeper the emotional pain." Most often, the pain is "not feeling loved (i.e.valued)" and big activities seem to provide this false sense of value. Ultimately, we all just want (& need) to feel loved just for who we are and not what we do. Our value isn't defined by what we do or accomplish. It's far more often about how we love & connect with each other. ☮️❤️🤝
