im ngl i hate this, i hate using the “popular now” in the gallery bc they all look the same. even the extremely few that have dark skin have the exact same features. its so frustrating 😭

They are a bit samey at the top but the alternative is sort by "newest" and it's much harder to find good sims that way than putting "most popular"

@@D1EN0 I imagine the issue is that the features are all eurocentric, changing someones skin colour doesn't change their ethnic features, the average Asian person does not have the same facial structure as the average French person. Just changing the colour of a sim doesn't make them look any more diverse, you still have to edit their facial features. Which is fine, but it makes sense to be upset that all the popular sims look the same

Idk personally I like using the randomized sims for my bases so I have more options to start with. I want a sim with a large nose? I randomize until I find a nose that I like the shape of. I usually start with the nose lol. Makes my sims look a lot more diverse!

I like randomizing sims until they match what I'm thinking as much as possible so I only have to make little adjustments. I can spend forever on making all their outfits though, I can't stand my sims wearing mismatched unflattering outfits

I wish there was a way to copy the makeup, and outfits to different outfit categories. Or even just switch the outfit your making to a different category. There’s been so many times I’ve been making one of the outfits and went “actually I want this look for cold/hot weather instead” or something like that. Also sometimes I don’t WANT to design 6 different outfits for my sim all at once! Let me just design one, and maybe add more later.

Right?? I brought this up in a previous video, so many people said it is possible with MCC but it's like yes, I know that's a solution but it's very slow and still doesn't solve the core issue of it not being a game feature!!

remember you can also change anyone in your household without the cheat by pressing “change sim” on the mirror. it’s basically full edit mode without the simology

or just use your own previously made sims as a base. another option is remove EVERYTHING off the preloaded sim (hair, makeup, clothing, etc), select feature presets, and then tweak from there.

I’ll start with a base Sim, and then everyone gets randomized. Select the eyes, roll the randomizer three times, and work from there. Repeat for all features. It works pretty well! I do that for their traits, too.

I prefer the stand still mod because sometimes i make sims with their body parts exagerate and i can only notice it with the walking animation

If you zoom into the face it will pose the sim perfectly when putting in clockspeed 0

I always just randomize each element until it all fits perfectly to what I'm looking for. Then I go in and fine tune everything. Much faster than the way I used to do it.

When I had the game before I moved states and had to leave my PC behind I ALWAUS used the gallery “Base Sim” and I’d always adjust some features so it wasn’t exactly like the OG base, and I’d always use CAS.fulledit mode before I found out about the MCC mod

Great tips Ive started just using the same sims Ive already made over and over again Luckily I have a lot, and if I want a newer sim I use the dna, make a child, and age them to adult and delete the original sims I think it's obvious Im not really a CAS player

some face/nose/mouth presets are worse with shadows than others! Also a lot of KZbinrs use modded CAS lighting or game shaders which makes the base game skin/shadows look better without using skin cc. I do have a YT short with tips for making good sims without cc (my most viewed short) if you want to watch it!

I really wouldn't recommend base Sims. I find that their faces are too stock standard, to Barbie and Ken, they're based on beauty standards which means that they'll pretty much always be the same skin tone have the same face presets and body type. Sure it's your fame and if you want them all to look that way, that's great and all, but you don't need to focus on what's pretty to make unique and interesting looking Sims.

I haven't seen any base sims that use custom content personally and I use that method all the time. If you're searching the gallery without putting "base sim" in the title that will happen, but the whole point of making base sims is to use base game content which most people do.

unfortunately by nature "popular" means whichever sims are used the most, and that is usually based on the same societal standards of the playerbase and averages, which are very samey... If you don't mind scrolling a bit though, I still find it's better being able to choose which base sim you start with rather than the random ones
