I love these videos too, feels so relatable and it’s a much easier way for me to get into a poker room soon. I’ve been watching a lot of poker blogs, yourself, brad, Andrew, Mariano, rampage, etc but I’ve always been intimidated by the amounts being played but smaller stakes makes this opportunity much more plausible. I really appreciated the tips as well, it really felt like I learned a LOT in todays video. I know sometimes these tips can apply to bigger stakes but this is a great way to make that first step

Like you've mastered this level and this gives me assurance again in my playing and your teachings.. I know you will soon be the same way at the high stakes .. but it's been a real journey... Thanks for allowing me to go with you on it... And helping me

in low stakes, you can raise mostly when you have good made hands. try not to get too fancy but if you want to incorporate some semi-bluffs i’d recommend high equity ones with like a straight + pair draw, nut flush draws, etc.

Been watching your vlog since the beginning and what got me into was the fact that you played low stakes similar to me. Whilst I enjoy seeing the larger stakes I hope you do not go the same way as many other vloggers and start to just play higher and higher stakes. The reason I like the low stakes is that is the stakes I play and so I can learn from them. I cannot learn as much from the higher stakes

Your style of play is just about as exactly mine, and I’ve been profitable at 2/3. One thing I noticed that I would have done different was with the KK you first got on 1/2 with the ace on the board. At the river in that circumstance is ALWAYS a bet. Villain weak aces fold, everyone else is a fold. Advantage is you don’t have to show your cards and you may dodge a bullet with someone holding ACE-rag.

Just noticed that little thing that happened at 5:20 and because I'm interested in everything related to table etiquette: if someone throws chips in like that and they roll into someone else, is that considered some type of a friendly "donation" or something, even if by accident? I'm wondering because you first picked them up into your stack but later returned them to the table for the opponent, so I was wondering whether it was some type of slight dominance move or just a random slip-up of sorts.
@ignacion2013

he should be making a joke like "im keeping your chips, because them roll to me", and then he just give them back. There is no something like friendly donation.

I’m so sick of people saying you can’t make a living at playing small stakes live. If you are good it is even borderline easy to do it in my opinion. Ok ok maybe not if you have qualifications for something where you can make $100 an hr for sure but for simple folk without a lot of bills (or education) or just the regular bills playing small stakes live (IF YOU ARE GOOD!) should be able to live decent and happy. Especially if playing CASH GAMES. If you are a newbie and want to be pro it is so much easier to go cash games cause you can win consistently instead of losing ten times before maybe winning. (Tourneys) my two cents
@shawnadams1460
@shawnadams1460 5 ай бұрын
That is assuming two things, you have a wide variance of places to play, because if you go to the same spots repeatedly you get 'known' and less action. And two, can deal with the variance of low stakes. People often forget how swingy low stakes can be....so you absolutely need to have good bankroll control to ride it out.
@davidoberry5309
@davidoberry5309 3 ай бұрын
@@shawnadams1460yes you have to live in a good area to be pro for sure. I live in Fla so I have lots of choices. And variance is nowhere near in cash games as it is in tourneys. If you are good you should be able to beat live low stakes cash games 4 out of 5 times. I hear players all the time say they have not had a losing session in past 10-20 sessions. I have way more winning sessions than losing and that’s also cause I have a stop loss and it’s not a generous one so even when I lose it’s not too bad. But I do leave ahead most of the time.

Probably a rec players question.. why do you tend to jump up to higher stakes when you crush at the lower stakes? I was questioning this the when video then you outro with some of that info...is it 1. More opportunity to go big financially 2. Growing your poker goals long-term? 3. The prestige of being with the poker idols and running in that circle? Or a little of it all?? Or just a risk taker type A personality??

A good video. My thoughts are that your session went well and you got a bit lucky, but it showed too how sometimes players will make moves with weak hands. The real challenge of poker is dealing with sessions where every premium hand you receive faces an opponent with a higher pair and every good flop you get is beaten. These bad sessions are why people quit. Everyone preaches aggression agression, 3-bet with a weak hand to get action, but I offer that a real skill is keeping your stack when up against a cooler. If you can figure when you're beat, that is a skill.
@j-dtheblackfarmer8659
@j-dtheblackfarmer8659 Жыл бұрын
They are suppose to quit. This game isn’t for the weak. There’s no weak hands. Only weak players. And players who think the best hand is suppose to win every hand. You are sitting down at a table amongst gamblers, hustlers, novices, or “professionals” thinking there is going to be some sort of fairness. 😂
@BenDover-je6uw
@BenDover-je6uw Жыл бұрын
You don't 3 bet light to "get action", you 3 bet light as a bluff to fold out weak holdings that can't call a 3 bet or to steal the blinds. Mostly you would 3 bet light if the BTN or CO open raises and you are in the blinds. BTN and CO will mostly open raise light to steal the blinds, which can be a good way to chip up, especially at a less aggressive or more tight table.
@BenDover-je6uw
@BenDover-je6uw Жыл бұрын
I apologize my above comment came across as dickish. And You don't only 3 bet light to induce action, though sometimes I do, especially at home games after I have made what I want to make at the game ( obviously luck dependent).

Buy in is usually 100 or 200BB. You want to be as deep as possible when playing. If you want to beat low stakes live, play 5 or 10NL online. I personally play online to " train ". Online you get to see 2 to 3 times the amount of hands per hour than you would live, so you have much more data to help find your leaks. As well as the online pool is pretty brutal TBH. Even the super low stakes regs are pretty decent.

Are you always looking to call off a jam JT35 rainbow board with just QJ at low stakes where most folks seem to play ABC? It seems to me like Q10 is the best possible option there, but my opponent also could have KJ, AJ, J10, 33 and with a ~60% bet, the sizing seems great for value. I'd really like to understand how this is a winning play long term.

on the river? that’s tough but yeah might be a call bc he’s polarizing meaning he’s saying he has the nuts or nothing. idk if an A goes that large so it’s basically a set or KQ or some bluff.

This is a great video except one thing. At the 1/3 level the players aren’t considering spr. So when you flop a set with 1010 you can get value on other streets no proportionate to pot size just getting very good at value betting.
