Yeah submit that tape ASAP it's frustrating when the agent doesn't send it in right away but you just have to keep in mind that they have several hundred other clients they have to deal with it sometimes it's best to have you tape going early the next morning so you're right at the top of that inbox list

Thanks so much for this!:) I just su bmitted for a short film and was towards the latter part of the submission time. I will make an effort to get it done sooner. I live in a small town, so finding readers is a challenge.:) Sometimes, I just have to go solo..I have learned that you can call a friend on a separate phone line to do a read with you as well!😊

Yes! Get a buddy on a phone. Don't fly solo! Glad this helped 🙂

I’m a new actress always searching for knowledge. Thank you for explaining reasons for early submissions. So happy I found your KZbin.

If you have worked with certain Casting Directors, it does help to know that they tend to choose from the earlier submissions. Just on the tendencies, they don't want to go through thousands of taped submissions.

It always helps to know tendencies of certain Casting Directors!! In the absence of that for any particular one, I recommend what I said in the video 🙂

I think it’s very true that getting it in early means there’s a better chance of getting seen before they get too busy or too distracted with other stuff or before things shift with the deadline, etc. I also think getting a tape in early means you have a better chance of making an impression when CDs are watching with more earnest. Submitting later means you’re not only fighting against all the competition, but you’re also fighting against early impressions made, not to mention a CD who has already watched a couple of thousand auditions or more already, and thus may not be watching with the same vigor.

Love how you explained this point with giving your best odds with self tape submission time lines. You're so right here, we just never know when they might sit down and watch our tapes. Thanks so much for the great advice and insight.

Makes sense about what to expect from them “because they’re human beings”…

Yep that really hit me as well. Sometimes I think we as actors get caught up in the hustle of everything because we care so much about our career that we often forget how important empathy is for others in this industry who are just doing their job.

Casting Directors watch many self-tapes for 3 to 5 seconds each and sometimes multiple times

What do I do if I don’t have a reader?
@VirtualTeachingPro2 жыл бұрын
This is always a struggle for us actors. What I try to do is see if I can have a fellow actor friend by my reader via Zoom. Then I film it live with them on the Zoom call. It works! It's not ideal but it gets the job done.
