Hello Friends,
I have already released a lot of videos and was just thinking as to what subject I should choose to make a video.
While thinking, it suddenly clicked to me that the most common issue or need for those who are learning stenography is the need for Accuracy and/or Speed.
Most of the candidates either lack accuracy or speed while some lack both of these.
I have earlier issued two videos on Accuracy and Speed separately.

2. Tips for Transcription Accuracy - 14.1.2020
Since these two subjects are inter-connected, I thought of preparing one videos and to share my views in this regard.
Let me first of all share that whenever I ask the status of the stenography from any candidate, I am told about the speed only and most of the candidates are not aware that accuracy is more important than the speed. While the accuracy, if it is consistently maintained, can improve the speed, it is not vice versa. If one focusses on speed, attaining the accuracy would not be possible and the person would be lost and feel frustrated.
As mentioned in my earlier videos, let’s understand what does speed mean in stenography - the speed in stenography is that at which one is able to transcribe the unseen passage with less than 5% mistakes. It is not only writing, which is mistaken by many, but transcribing.
There can be various reasons why the candidates do not know the importance of accuracy - 1) it can be that they are not taught about it - 2) they might have chosen some short-cut for theory, which causes lot of issues in gaining accuracy, 3) they want to do things which are easy 4) they are not able to visualise the consequences, etc. etc.
I suggest the following steps to be taken by those who are facing accuracy issue
Do daily transcription of an unseen passage at a speed at which you are comfortable i.e. at a speed where you can have around 5% mistakes.
In case you are getting more than 5% mistakes, reduce the speed.
Please do the complete cycle of transcription as suggested by me in my earlier video titled Tips for Transcription Accuracy.
Practice the grammalogues periodically to get command over them.
After you are at an accuracy below 5% mistakes, increase the speed by not more than 5 wpm at any point of time. Repeat this process gradually and increase your speed.
For those who have good accuracy and want to increase the speed, it is suggested that they should increase the use of phrases.
I am sure that if somebody follows these steps even for a period of a fortnight, he/she will find improvement in the accuracy and then the speed can be gained gradually.
I would like to add that unless we do things in the right way, it is not possible to get the desired results, otherwise we would be spending more time and energy in the incorrect way without results.
General (but important)
The more we realise the importance of the Transcription and do it religiously, the more we can gain out of it.
It is better not to do a transcription on any particular day than doing it incomplete or with half-hearted efforts, so as not to develop a bad habit.
In case we develop a habit of doing the daily Transcription in the proper way, we would not feel any difference or nervousness when we appear in any skill exam because it will be a routine affair for us.

Dear - it is neither mandatory nor possible to get 100% at any stage of the learning - so nothing to worry in case you are getting more than 80% accuracy while learning but the efforts need to be in that direction only.

Preeti - in case you are going to start from the theory of shorthand now, it may take longer time to acquire 80/100 wpm - even the theory (if done properly) takes about 4-6 months - and not less than that time for writing at speed.

Sir, Can we opt this thing- we remain writing an unseen matter at a same speed as we are writing, and for gaining accuracy in that respective speed, can we re-transcibe the same matter, despite decreasing our speed of writing dictation.

Dear Virendra - once we do any transcription of an unseen passage, there is no need of doing it again as it remains in our memory for some time - may be after more than 3 months we can but it is better if we not - re-writing of that passage any number of times and at different speed after sufficient practice will definitely help.

Dear - normally candidates with more than 5% mistakes are disqualified - only in cases where they do not get sufficient candidates with less than 5% mistakes, they may relax the standards to get the required number of candidates. It is suggested to start unseen passages as early as possible - even if at lower speed with less words but the hesitation in doing unseen must go as early as possible.
