Being originally from Bangalore (Now I live in the US) in when I was living there in the early '80s most people seemed to like him ,, but now for some reason the local people are objecting to his Birthday being celebrated (Nov 20) in Bangalore , the MP from Bangalore South a member of the BJP says he unworthy of this honour.as he was not a freedom fighter as he was fighting the East India company not the British Empire, He also claims the Wadiyar blood line was the true Royal family.of Mysore.

adnan Rashid, you truly need a do a chronological series of islamic history and its civilisation, like how Yasir qadhi has done with the seerah. What us muslims are lacking is tarbiyyah and your teaching us of history allow us to understand our roots and where we came from and what responsibilities lie on our shoulder. its ironic how muslims in this day and age are so preoccupied with rental cars and showing off that we forgot who we truly are as a people and a nation.

I have sat down with muslim historians who have written about tipu in urdu language in south india I came from an area where tipu is revered as a hero and has deep connections with tipu sultan our ancestors fought for him, but I have never heard about tipu sahib sending letter to thomas jefferson from them, this is astonishing fact for me.

If he had not been betrayed by his people, British Empire would not have taken over India and millions upon millions of lives would have been saved from British Empire's evils.

Salaam Adnan, could you recommend me any books on the history of Islam/Sufism in the subcontinent, and one book you mentioned about the history of India maybe about the Mughals when you were debating Raj on how many people were killed during their reign.
