Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Battery Information

The TPMS sensor batteries have an expected life of 7-10 years. When a battery in any of the sensors has died the vehicle will illuminate the TPMS warning indicator on the gauge cluster. When the light is illuminated the system is no longer monitoring the vehicle’s tire pressures. Have your vehicle inspected by your local dealer if the indicator is illuminated.

Acura genuine parts (shows sensors with Honda logos). I know, it's all made by Honda, but still funny. Also, this system is a PIA. Glad they moved away from having to clone IDs with aftermarket or OBD relearn in newer models.

Even on youtube the dealer brain washes you to spend your money on them. I could only imagine what they'll charge to replace these sensors when they go.

Purchased an 09 MDX recently and the TPMS indicates tire pressure low despite that I checked the pressure to be correct using an accurate gauge, one that has been verified by my company's metrology department. Out of curiosity I gradually increased the tire pressure until they are at 40+ psi. The display at this time indicates ~200 kpa (nominal value is 220 kpa which = 32 psi). Obviously the sensors have drifted way off. Tried online to calibrate the sensors (telling the computer they are at the nominal pressure value) but had no luck. Later models do have such a function. Looks like you'll need a Hitachi tool to perform the calibration. Sigh! I intend go on checking the pressure manually and disregard the TPMS warnings. Would be good to have a way to get rid of the RPMS warning totally.
