What are other great winter tires? Really enjoying the Hellkat now that trails are getting sloppier.

I agree although they still are great either way. I liked the weight of the thinner casing but may be too thin for some of the gnarly areas. Thank you for watching

Goodto hear the Hellkats are good for winter. Looking to replace the Kenda Amrak that came on my 2021 Devinci, they have no grip in the mud or snow.

Hellkats are great high grip tires. The ATC casing seemed tough and was 860g for a 29x2.4.

@@StraightLine_MTB perfect. Take a look at my latest video on The Great Trail. Its all snow, those Kenda Amrak tires just spun when I tried to get going and turned.

I think the Hellkat would've worked better for you on a 30mm iw rim instead of 25mm. Would've brought the casing to atleast 60mm and flattened out the tread profile for better dry performance.

Ya need that Eliminator in the Black Diamond casing out back :) Its a great tyre, but that GRID is floppy AF.

I did read that GRID was pretty wimpy. Here i am running GRID Trail which is a bit more robust. It was a good balance of weight vs support. We ran it on our trail bike but if running on Enduro i would for sure go Blk Diamond. Think I will have to try the black diamond. Thanks for watching!

@@StraightLine_MTB Awesome man :) Yeah I just find the GRID varients unreliable out back and prone to puncturing via pinches. Then when coupled with a liner...it exposes the sidewall more as well (and adds weight). So all round find the BLK DMND just safer and better with only a slight weight penalty considering no liner is necessary at all. Our trails are mostly a bit rocky around here in Cape Town (well, at least where I ride). All the best dude and keep up the vids :)

So I'm trying to run a 2.4 and the manufacturer says 2.4 is the max but I'm worried that the tire might be oversized or due to the side lugs. Is it true that the width of kendas actually run a bit narrow? Id be fine if the tire is over 2.2 but smaller than 2.4. Thanks
@StraightLine_MTB3 жыл бұрын
The Hellkat isn't a fat tire so should be good. The Vittoria goma 2.4 is a fat tire that is closer to a 2.5 for reference. I'd say the Kenda is a smaller 2.4

@@StraightLine_MTB thanks man, super appreciated great channel. That's the way tires should be reviewed you cover sizing and performance comparisons, well done

@@StraightLine_MTB they do run small the 2.4s. I have the hellkat up front but the nevegal 2 in the rear. The nevegal is the same as my bontrager xr2 27.5x2.2. Lol. Tire doesn't look visibly fatter either looks the same with more nobby. Could have gotten the 2.6 kendas
@StraightLine_MTB3 жыл бұрын
@@ns671fr I'd say it's a conservative 2.4 maybe similar to a 2.4 DHR II. The new Magic Mary and Big Betty 2.4s seem to be a touch larger.

you think that hellkat on rear and front it is a good idea?

Depending on your terrain, they could be great. I think they roll well enough to run front and rear. Great tires
