3:30 exactly! EA's cars seem to float over the ground with a rubber band or glue holding them down. The roads are too smooth, but it doesn't matter because weight transfer seems to have no effect on how the cars drive. The interaction with roadside ditches/high angle walls like rock walls is very inconsistent too. Sometimes you bounce off them like an old gran turismo game sometimes it launches you in the air. The cars in EA wrc rotate artificially and are way too reactive. Ripping the steering wheel at 60mph on dirt the car immediately reacts with no understeer or reaction delay. If you take a rwd car and drive in 5th gear at 20mph at full throttle through a long corner, the car will spin out like there's a fake rotation force in effect. WRCG I just picked up. It's a breath of fresh air. Cars feel much more realistic, weight transfer is very satisfying (especially New Zealand high speed stages!). Tire reactions feel way more like they do in my real life car on stage gravel tires (steer, low grip delay, weight transfer, grip, car turns/reacts) . You can see what I mean at around 20s in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWWvaoiDeLufZ9ksi=Yhh9Gd6RXxEYF8uY My big issue is the tires never dig down to grip. This is a problem launching, at large slide angles and low speed hairpins. It looks like the mod maybe solves that (watching the Finland launch). One bummer is an auto-braking bug I've discovered. It happens if you start in 2nd gear which is how I like to launch 2wd cars to manage wheel spin. Letting off throttle brakes go to 50% immediately. With the bad low speed tire spin and auto braking bug it makes the lancia 037 difficult to drive. I have to suffer a poor launch in first gear until the timer starts to avoid the auto brake bug. Oh, one last thing! The games default settings are way too soft and the diffs too open! Increasing the diff preload and accel lockup makes a huge difference in most cars. Cheers on a great video!!
@G.Wee_Rallying7 ай бұрын
Thanks for a more detailed look into the physics. Yes the physics mod does make going more sideways much more reliable and also fixes the wheel spin issues. If u could u should try WRC 10 as well, maybe try for a little while and refund it. The handling is a lot better in that game but the cars are too fast. If WRC G has similar car behaviour to WRC 10 while keeping the feeling of inertia, I think it would hit the sweet spot. Except for RWD though, in WRC 10 RWD feels like AWD for some reason.

I totally agree man, the sounds are quite lame. Same here, my main complaint is that EA WRC doesnt even have super special stages. They spent so much effort making gimmicks like the car builder and regularity rally that really nobody asked for that they had to cut corners with their stages. It also has very crappy post processing, sunny stages with cockpit cam makes everything outside have too much bloom. As for Seb Loeb Rally Evo, that game is really not commonly played, it does sound like a good alternative to the 3 I mentioned though. Maybe it needs more attention.

@sportschool3537Ай бұрын
@@richmachin6741 The physics with the mod are very accurate for modern cars and I'm sorry but I tried RBR and it's physics are a placebo effect... it LOOKS realistic but it doesn't feel realistic cause the FFB is ancient and while you get FFB on the car's weight being thrown around you have literally NOTHING from the tyres. When I push the throttle in RBR I can't feel the tyres spinning on the gravel at all and this results to the all time classic RBR scenario of you having grip and suddenly, without any indication you have 0% grip and the car is going somewhere out of your control with you scratching your head and saying "maybe I applied too much throttle?"... and the key word here is MAYBE... with RBR it's always maybe... I uninstalled RBR very very fast and my thought was only "people are very easily fooled, this is not realistic at all, it just tries very hard to look like the real thing". Also RBR is really preying on the stupid notion that "the hardest=the most realistic" which is not true. It's easier to spin in iRacing than Assetto Corsa but Assetto Corsa is most times closer to driving a real car than iRacing whose FFB and physics are getting dated by now and even it's own playerbase admits it. Anyway, after playing WRC Generations WITH THE MOD (without it it's meh or even horrible), THIS is how a rally car actually drives... meaning that the FFB gives me all the info I need to be fast while also dancing on the edge of losing grip and having a crash... in the modded WRC Generations you need to be careful about your speed and not overdo it but at the same time when you're about to lose it you can save it cause the FFB gives you the necessary info. In RBR most people drive stupidly slow cause they know the moment they try to be even 1% aggressive the game will screw them and they'll crash. Anyway, WRC Generations with the mod is a gift to rally fans... it's waaaay too good. I'm obsessed with my career mode now... lol

@@G.Wee_Rallying I am now playing WRC Generations with the mod from Riky and it's absolutely amazing... AND more realistic than RBR because RBR is very very old and it's FFB is dogshit for today's standards... it gives me no info about where the edge of my tyres grip is so I end up losing all grip out of nowhere without any indication and just wondering "what did I do wrong?"... that's NOT realistic... that's a placebo effect of looking very realistic but because the game doesn't have the tools to actually BE realistic you just learn to drive without crashing by trial and error instead of feeling... I hated RBR because half the time I couldn't tell why I lost the car and what my mistake was. RBR is hailed by everyone as the most realistic but it's not... you learn by learning the inputs, the best comparison for me is learning to play Street Fighter. Street Fighter is BY FAR the hardest fighting game and the ones that have the most skill always win, you can't button mash at all, so you learn the inputs by practicing for hours and hours until you are fluid. RBR is exactly like this. You learn how much wheel rotation to apply by trial and error but without any info by the FFB since the FFB only gives you info from the weight of the car but not the tyres cause it's very old. That's not how driving works... in driving you learn by trial and error but based on the feedback of the car, not like a video game... so RBR is NOT realistic, it's a placebo effect. WRC Generations with the mod is actually really REALLY realistic, the cars behave exactly as they should be and the tweaked FFB is amazing in giving you all the info you need to be fast while also knowing that one mistake will send you spinning or out of control straight to a tree. And in WRC Generations when I make I mistake I can instantly say "Ok, I used a bit too much throttle there" or "I was too aggressive on the wheel, need to dial it down a bit" because the FFB lets me know what the fuck I did wrong...
@G.Wee_RallyingАй бұрын
@sportschool3537 IDK man, RBR's force feedback feels right to me, I could feel the tyres flex to its limits on tarmac, the wheels going over every bump, the car's roll loading the wheels giving them more grip. In fact I find RBR's FFB more detailed and realistic than WRC Generations because WRC G uses a lot of vibrations and augmented effects to communicate information that RBR communicates with simply force feedback. Maybe that's what you meant by the force feedback being better in WRC Generations. WRC G might make it easier for you to know more about whats happening with the car through the vibration but it's definitely less realistic, steering wheels don't vibrate like crazy when you lose grip. It gets lighter from the lack of resistance from the tyres losing traction. RBR is also the only game I know where the tyre stretch affects the wheel position. Try starting a stage (preferably tarmac), while stationary, turn the wheel, then let go, watch the wheel return slightly from the tyre un-stretching itself. Anyway what wheel are you using? I use a Thrustmaster T300 RS GT and it feels right to me. You are literally the first person I ever heard saying that Kylotonn's games have better FFB than RBR. I've heard complaints about the weird vibrations in RBR but not the rest of the FFB. Maybe try the vanilla RBR first, or other racing games like assetto corsa it might help you to understand RBR's FFB. And also no way RBR looks more realistic than WRC G, RBR is freaking 2 decades old, everything looks so washed out and blurry. Maybe you are the one getting placebo bro haha Jokes aside, WRC Generations may be fun, satisfying and has physics more recreated than simulated compared to EA WRC but I doubt its force feedback is more realistic than RBR. Do let me know if you think I misunderstood what you meant by WRC G's FFB being better than RBR's.

@@G.Wee_Rallying I use a CSL DD 8Nm direct drive and I can't feel ANYTHING from the tyres on RBR... not strong or weak... NOTHING... if I hit the break to the floor on purpose to lock up the breaks I literally feel like the car is floating on ice... it's horrible... there is nothing beneath the car to simulate a rough gravel terrain... it's all super artificial... when you lock up the breaks of a rally car on gravel you don't float away, there is rough terrain beneath you and RBR doesn't simulate any of that. The original FFB of Generations isn't great... the tweaked one feels very much better by Riky Sim's... Sorry but in my direct drive wheel the FFB of RBR feels like everything else is dead except for the car's weight shifting and the self alignment of the wheel... but no tyres, no traction, no wheels spinning, nothing... everything else is super dead and gives me nothing. I doubt it's due to my fault since I installed the game exactly as Simrallytans says to do so... and my wheelbase works amazing on every other game. Sorry but if I push the throttle to the floor in a turn I will spin but it will feel like I'm spinning on ice... no traction, no resistance from the gravelly soil... nothing... Which to me shows that RBR fanbois are overrating this game A LOT...
@G.Wee_RallyingАй бұрын
@@sportschool3537 okay, interesting, I think I see your point, the FFB forces in RBR might feel right but you don't feel the vibration from the rough surfaces which you use to understand the grip of the car. This also makes the gravel feel fake because it feels smooth am I right? Well I hope you understand that a lot of these sensations you get from the wheel are artificial effects added on to the force feedback. Don't believe me? Try WRC 9, then WRC 10 or WRC G. You will realise that the gravel feel when driving straight on WRC 9 is more realistic. You feel every bump and the roughness of the gravel. But guess what? The gravel in the game is actually smoother and less bumpy than what you feel. The roughness you see in game is made using a parallax trick called bump mapping. A flat texture made to look rough. Additionally the car does not even interact with the small stones near the edges of the road. The tyre just goes straight through them. So think about why if feels bumpy and how this realism was achieved. In RBR, many of the stages have a very smooth surface on gravel. The only one I can think of with actual rough gravel is Estrada De Banana. Even Codemasters's games have very smooth gravel but it somehow feels rough. Let's not talk about rally, you think you really feel the roughness of the kerbs in Assetto Corsa? Open content manager > settings > controls > force feedback. You will see a section called effects and see what's the first effect there? Kerb effect! Turn all the effects to 0 and see how it feels. That is the pure force feedback, no additional effects. Back to rally and the FFB, if the ground is actually smooth, shouldn't that be what you are feeling in the FFB? What I'm trying to say here is yes the FFB in other games may feel more believable, but at what cost? Yes RBR is an old game, that's why it does not have any of these effects. But that also means what you are feeling is raw FFB from the wheels, tyres and suspension. It does not feel as "realistic" as other games because it doesnt lie to you. It's ok if you find WRC G more realistic. At the end of the day it's what feels realistic and not what is actually happening. I understand where you are coming from but I feel that you misunderstand the FFB in RBR. I'm sorry, when it comes to raw, no-effects FFB, RBR is more detailed than the other rally games out there. The FFB settings in RBR only has 1 slider for a reason. If you are comparing effects then yes RBR is shit because it does not have any. But in terms of pure FFB, calling it dogshit is just unfair.

WRC 8 had so much grip it was like driving on tracks, you slide too little, in WRC 9 you could slide a lot more but it was still way too fast, the cars felt like RC Cars (too light and responsive), in WRC 10 it was a lot better, you had to control the throttle when exiting hairpins on tarmac to reduce wheel spin but it was still a little too fast compared to real life. WRC Generations then felt way too sluggish, especially the tarmac. And yes the fake RWD was quite disappointing to see too.
