I was diagnosed with pipe and tobacco acquisition syndrome last year, according to my wife. It’s been a struggle, but she has helped me through it. My work requires me to travel. The most valuable commodity we own is our time. Spend it wisely, with the ones you love.

It’s a great season to ponder how we spend. My wife and I have been shifting our spending away from stuff (which we don’t need) to experiences and meaningful charity.

Hey Brother that hit me. For the last few years I’ve felt that there is more for Christmas than the run and shop. So this year I’ve taken the step and said no to buying me things I don’t need or even want. My wife is not happy, but for me there is more. I am a Christian and am trying to spend more of this season to pray and read scripture rather than go and try to spend more. Now… I could use more pipes but I’ve got a good amount of tobacco and am really enjoying the country squires Cordial friends blend.

This was a great chat. I am a babe in Christ personally and this Christmas and the last has meant things TOTALLY Different to me than the other 39 I have had on this earth. This time I now have so much excitement that I never had before. Piping has Brought me so much closer to the Lord in too many ways to count.. That being said there are times when I pray and He lets me know I need to fast from piping for a short time. Usually 3-4 days....and when I come back it's much more rewarding and my head is in a much better place to enjoy the blends and pipes I have. I also think this teaches me to be content and enjoy the small things he has given us (tobacco etc) to enjoy while we are here....and therefore helps me to NOT chase the ever evading " Shiny New Thing". I hear ya! I think all Americans should watch the documentary “BUY NOW”. It’s a wake up call to all the marketing manipulations that we so foolishly fall for. I was all-in my first 6 months of smoking a pipe - buying blends left and right. I finally said enough is enough. There is no blend out there that is so much better than the great blends I’ve already discovered. I no longer chase after the one-offs, holiday blends, or small batches, etc. Most of it is just a bunch of marketing magic.

I've ordered a pouch of each the brigadier black line this season. Looking forward to trying them. I am buying more mac baren and Seattle pipe club this season than I was planning to two months ago. Great video! I need to try Boswell’s best. I’ve been smoking some Hearth & Home Smoky Mountain, Hearth & Home White Knight, and Sutliff Molto Dolce lately. I’m always wanting new pipes and tobaccos so this video is a good reminder for me to be thankful for what I have! Great video! Thank you. Prior to seeing this we have already decided to make Christmas more about family this year. Instead of basing Christmas Day about presents we decided that while we are going to have them it’s just going to be a smaller part. We decided to do some games with our teens and other activities to make it more memorable. While your video wasn’t about this very topic the idea of just spending less this year sounded appealing and has had me thinking hard for the last couple months. Nice talk Johnson. I have long felt that the Holiday season has become too commercialized. There is way too much emphasis placed on material things rather than reflecting on the spirit of the season and enjoying quality time with our family and friends. Many of us are blessed beyond measure. As such, I much prefer giving rather than receiving. It's always important to take stock and to give thanks for the wonderful blessings that we have been given.
