It's finally here, my review on the Tisell Explorer! I want to hear what you guys think of this one, so drop me a comment! 👇👇👇

I bought this Tissel in May 2020 2nd hand as well. It was in mint shape and has run -3 sec per day for the last for years. I bought it to see if I really wanted to try for the Rolex. I've owned a Submariner for 26 years but the Explorer I has always appealed to me. So I decided to test drive Tissel. It is such a nice watch and I wear it regularly. The truth is that I became attached to Tissel and don't feel any urge to chase an Explorer I. The build quality on the Tissel is as good as my Sub btw.

It's a great watch I've had mine for about a year now. Just got a San Martin SN020-G explorer the other day and its finishing is unbelievably good! Even better than the Tisell. The 9015 is a great movement and is running+7 but the NH-35 is +6 so about the same...
@DavidSchwartzjr3 жыл бұрын
Hey Nathan, thanks for sharing your experience with the SM explorer! I’ll have to check it out sometime. The trade off for the movement from 28,800 to 21,600 vph isn’t a deal breaker for me so I’ll give it a look. 😎👍

One of the best reviews by someone who understands it’s nuances. IMHO better than the latest San Marco with a ghost date. The bracelet can addressed with a modification You could not build this watch for the price!
@DavidSchwartzjr2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, I totally agree, for the price it’s an absolute banger! I know ghost dates don’t bother a lot of people but I’m a purist and it always makes it feel a bit unpolished in terms of the functionality. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this one! 😎👍

thats a good looking watch that I've considered over and over again. I kinda come back to it every now and then. the only downside is that as an european citizen, this watch is only available at the european store for 300€, which is quite high. I feel like the bracelet doesn't seem like its well finished, compared to other watches in this price category. Honestly, I've been waiting for brands like San Martin to come out with a 39mm Explorer 1 Homage. I just recently got their Tudor BB58 homage and damn, this watch is soo well made!
@JohnBowl14690 Жыл бұрын
Nice video. You should do a Tisell vs Bliger homeage video. I'm curious which watch is better. To me, most of these homage watches are unrefined Rolexes. I know Rolex owners will hate me for saying, but that's how I see it.
@DavidSchwartzjr Жыл бұрын
Thanks John! I ended up selling this explorer homage watch, but I have seen the Bliger watch on other fellow youtuber's channels and have held a few of their watches in the metal as well. I would confidently say that the Tissel is the better of the two by far.

Great watch! I was really thinking about getting one but also saw that San Martin had a vintage style homage to the explorer so I might go for that one. I ended up selling the Benyar homage to this because the quality just wasn’t what I wanted and also to open up room for a proper homage to the Explorer. Your videos are getting better and better, well done Dave!
@DavidSchwartzjr3 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! Yes, I agree with you 100%, Benyar has great prices, but their quality is kinda iffy and their materials sometimes are sub par. Good review! I own the Tissel Explore as well. I love the dial. The worst aspect of the watch would be the ridiculous endlinks. Also, the push pin holes are extremely close to the case. This limits your strap options. Most straps will interfere with the case. If the bracelet would have had female end-links the watch would’ve been perfect.
@rccdesign Жыл бұрын
Thanks for comment, this turns me away from this homage. I always use natos or rubber straps, and I know how bad it can be to have springbars too close to case. Will need to look at San Martin Explorer or San Martin 1957 Railmaster. I already have 1957 silver dial.

Thanks Eve! Yes, for sure, that is one of the things I really liked about it, that 28,800vph sweep and the hacking was a nice bonus too lol. I know it won't be for everyone, but for spending a tad more you seem to get an overall solid watch that does it's job just fine! 😎🍻👍

A very thorough review and possibly your best yet. I really like the look of the Tisell. I like the Rolex Explorer but I don't like the price. I also don't like the fact that these days Rolex doesn't appear to give a **** about their customers or quality control. I had a Rolex Submariner in the past but will never buy anything from them again. Homage watches are fine though!

Thanks so much! Yes, I am with you on the Rolex prices, overall attitude from ADs, and lack of QC...they are just too hard to justify for me at this time. So many great options out there to spend 8K on but I know some people just want what they want too. Nice watch. No date to fiddle with, and be wrong all the time. The reason it may not fit on smaller wrists properly, is because Tissel got the end links wrong. On a Rolex. The end link is recessed, so that the lugs on the case stick out past it. Then the male connector in the center doesn't stick out as far as it does on the copy. Making it more of a wrist hugger and wearing smaller.
@DavidSchwartzjr3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kewrock! Yeah I’m starting to appreciate no date options a lot more haha. Oh I see what you mean with the end links on the Rolex, I had take another look haha. And I gotta say, the end links of the Tisell don’t seem to serve any beneficial purpose, they are big for no reason...ugh. Thanks for checking out the vid as usual man! 😎🍻👍

Solid looking homage if a bit pricey! As for the Tudor I think they are definitely a good alternative to a Rolex not only because of the price although that is a big part, but also the fact that you don't have to wait 5yrs & have a purchase history to get one (yet! 😉) good to see you back again.

@DavidSchwartzjr3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have had some time to think about it and from what I gather, someone has to report the video, KZbin’s algorithm flags it and the channel gets pulled, then you appeal and they manually review it and put the channel back up. For me YT is a hobby and not to pay bills with and I really hate having to censor myself so if I gotta jump through hoops later I will, but I don’t see any problem showing homage watches and using the terms of the luxury piece they “draw inspiration” from. I may regret it someday though lol. We will see. I may have to call on Jody to help me out 😅
