This was a great explanation. I struggled so much trying to make understand my mom that being in LGBTQ community is not a crime. Our parents'generation didn't get exposed to these topics so much so it's understandable. LGBTQ community deserves the equality. They have tend to commit suicides or undergo the depression. These topics should come to the table.

So true ❤️❤️ My parents never understand that it’s their right too . There even young ones who don’t get this .. it’s ignorance . People have to respect each others’ preferences and be broad minded enough to accept them.

@@sudeshfernando9773 I'm not homophobic but I do believe that love is love and he or she can love whoever they want but the thing is it's kinda hard explain it to people from conservative backgrounds
As a partially closeted gay person in Sri Lanka I've gotta say that homophobia is nothing but a mere act of ignorance. I don't blame them. I used to get angry and fight back, but with time I realised it's nothing but how the conventional society is, and it's not gonna change THAT easily. I used to be afraid of my feelings and myself, I tried so hard to suppress all of them. But with the help of supportive people around me I built up my confidence and character to finally accept myself. To all the closeted queer guys and girls out there, I'm telling you not to be afraid to accept yourself. Don't suppress your feelings and emotions. They need to be valued cause you should put yourself first. Be proud of yourself cause you're born this way!! It's not something you should be afraid or ashamed of. Accepting yourself is the hard part. If you achieve that someday someway somehow everything else will come with flow. I guarantee you that. But always be cautious, I still am. I'm a feminine guy and it's not very welcomed in the society, but I'm not ashamed of it. I have very supportive friends and they care and love me for who I am and they're such a blessing to me. Words can't really describe all of this, but yeah it's not gonna be forever. Stay strong and love yourself and happy belated pride month. And my sheer respect to all the straight allies. Even though I studied math stream in my A/L s, this was very much helpful to update my lack of knowledge in biology and psychology and all that, and for that and the insight you give to the fellow society, I need to show my greatest respect and gratitude to you sir! People like you are true treasurers to this country and the world. May the god bless you!

Live and Love by your choices as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. Sri Lanka indeed is a stereotypical country so we wouldn’t be able to establish total freedoms for LGBT community. straight උනත්, queer උනත් ඔබ ඔබේ ජීවිතය නිදහසේ සතුටින් ගත කරන්න. ලෝකයට බරක් වෙන්නෙ නැතුව ජීවත් වෙන එකයි වැදගත්. 💗

Don't blame Sri Lanka by saying "Stereotypical Country" . Even in the countries where they have legalized this, still people suffer MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY. If you say that they don;t suffer then why do they have to organize "parades"?. Look how those countries responded to "Light year-Toy Story" movie, which was released very recently. Those people "physically suffered" a lot in these "legalized countries" before it was legalized. Because not every familiy in THOSE countries ACCEPT this. So don't just point the finger only to SL. ON THE OTHER HAND SRI LANKANS ARE THE BEST (EXCEPT THE POLICE), THEY DON';T PYSICALLY HARM THEM, MAXIMUM THEY WHAT THEY WOULD DO IS "LAUGH", THAT IS BECAUSE IGNORANCE.
