It depends on the type and extent of tissue injury and the character of tissue involved. Complete restoration is possible in tissues composed of stable and labile cells. Injury to tissues composed of permanent cells results in scarring. With time, wound contracts and wound strength ( 70- 80% of normal ) is achieved by 3 months.

Scar tissue is there. How extensive is the scar tissue depends whether healing takes place by first intention or by second intention.
