Nope. At the time it was "just a ship" and had loadsss of designs straight out copied from other ships as well, WSL frankly cheaped out on many aspects of the Titanic. Only after the sinking did the ship gain a near-mythical status

@John in 1912, the ship in this very video grinds against the side of an iceberg on the night of April 14th at 11:40pm, which inflicts damage to the steel hull plating below the waterline over a 300-foot area. 6 of the 16 watertight compartments within the ship are breached by the steel plates being buckled inward, and the ship eventually sinks. the vessel breaks apart at 2:17am, and the last of it goes under at exactly 2:20am, leaving 1,496 people dead, and 712 people scarred for life.

@John The Titanic is the most famous ship in history, because at her maiden voyage in April 1912 (shortly before First World War 1914-18), she was the biggest and most luxurious ship in the world and was considered nearly unsinkable due to their sheer size and modern technologies. However, in the night from April 14 to April 15 she rammed an iceberg on her right side, was teared up and sank after 2 hours 40 minutes. Only about one third of the people onboard (700 out of 2200) could be rescued in Titanic's lifeboats, of which there were too few to save all passengers. The only ship to be able to help (Carpathia) was unfortunately too distant and took 4 hours to arrive, too late for about 1500 people who found no place in a lifeboat and went under with the Titanic (actually, most of them didn't die by drowning but by freezing, because the sea water was ice-cold). A real tragedy, loss of 1500 people plus this beautiful ship. 73 years later, in 1985, Titanic's wreck was found be submarines in about 3800 meters depth (12500 feet) in the deep sea. In 1997, James Cameron made his famous blockbuster movie "Titanic" about these events. Haven't you seen it? It's one of the most famous movies of all time, having won 11 Oscars, as did "Ben Hur".

They are building the „Titanic II“ right now, in reality. It shall look like the original, but shall apply the current ship security standards.
@byte2702
@byte2702 2 жыл бұрын
Wikipedia writes about the Titanic II, quote: „Titanic II is a planned passenger ocean liner intended to be a functional modern-day replica of the Olympic-class RMS Titanic. The new ship is planned to have a gross tonnage (GT) of 56,000, while the original ship measured about 46,000 gross register tons (GRT).[note 1] The project was announced by Australian billionaire Clive Palmer in April 2012 as the flagship of the proposed cruise company Blue Star Line Pty. Ltd. of Brisbane, Australia.[3] The intended launch date was originally set in 2016,[4] delayed to 2018,[5] then 2022.[6] The development of the project was resumed in November 2018 after a hiatus which began in 2015, caused by a financial dispute,[7][8] which affected the $500 million project.[9]“. The Corona virus may have delayed the project again.

I live in Germany, don’t forget how long they needed to finish the BER airport or the Elbphilharmonie, they are still working on Stuttgart 21 project. And as far as I know, the „Titanic: Honor and Glory“ game is work in progress since years meanwhile, too. They have published the Demo version 4 so far. I have learnt from those projects that they can take an extremely long time. Never say never. ;-)

At 11:36 you get a good look at Titanic's Veranda cafe, at the aft end of A deck. Some survivors reported that the cafe exploded as the tail section sank due to the force of air being pushed out of the ship by incoming water.

It wouldn't be surprising, the force of the incoming water's suction probably caused all the Verandah Cafe windows to be blown outwards and then during the break-up of the ship itself the room may VERY WELL have exploded outwards. It was on A Deck, aft of where the Titanic split, so it's very possible.

I've played with earlier builds of the demo, and it was a really fascinating experience. One of the most interesting aspects was that, while the Titanic was large (though not by modern standards), they had very real space constraints. Most notably, it was not a very wide ship, with her beam being only 28m (92 feet) versus, for example, the Queen Mary's 36m (118ft). On my visit to the QM, she felt quite modern, with spacing and massing that was somewhat equivalent to a modern mid-size cruise ship (though obviously her superstructure is quite a bit smaller). In contrast, the demo really drove home how narrow many of the passage ways were, and that the grand staircases, while beautiful, weren't massive. While she was huge for her time, and the designers did much to impart size, luxury and amenities with the space they had, it doesn't feel very big, especially when you consider the events of that night (sinking, stranded, alone in the middle of a frigid North Atlantic). It's a hell of an impressive thing, what the developers have built.

So there’s a story behind this game incase you guys didn’t know about!! You get to be a character similar to the movie! More of like escaping from police I think? But you board the titanic with the others! They did confirm the game is going to have people in it! You get to experience a everything I believe! The 2 hour sinking you get absolutely relive and you have to come up with a plan to survive! There are tasks on the ship you get to do with the crewman! This game will be by far the No.1 best historical simulation experience! They went all out deep into this game to give us that realistic feeling of what it was truly like to be on the Titanic in April of 1912! From day 1 to the sinking day basically.

I’ve actually NEVER seen what the squash court or the mailroom/ hold looked like but “MY GOD” the detail of this demo is just “SUPERBLY LUXURIOUS “ and I don’t know WHY they haven’t made another replica of the ship. When I visited the Branson Titanic exhibit and I walked up the Forward Grand Staircase and touched “Honor and Glory Crowning Time” it was just breathtaking and I didn’t want to leave . Titanic looks like a work of art compared to many modern cruise liners of today although these vessels increased in size and capacity, Titanic was based on elegance with many themes running through the ship to suit the passengers for choice as comfort and luxury at sea was the top priority, the detail is breath taking with the amount of craftmanship workmanship in the construction with no expense spared for 1912!.

Titanic Honor and Glory has done an amazing job recreating the ship and their work continues to evolve. One error that they acknowledged and have since changed after this version was released was that the lights were on in the wheelhouse at night. They were always kept off so the officer on watch could see when he went outside to the bridge wings without waiting for his eyes to adjust to the dark. During the change of the officer on watch, both had to be in the wheelhouse for at least 15 minutes to give the oncoming officer's eyes time to adjust to the dark.

What do you get when you add fascination to dedication? Well, in certain personalities it adds up to a level of obsession that makes possible the achievement of projects such as this. I stand in awe of the spell this ship continues to hold over people to the extent and intensity that it does, eleven decades after her brief existence following her completion. Our daytime tour was astounding enough; providing a like tour at night is simply flabbergasting. And the capture of the differing intensities of illumination is masterful. Sincerest congratulations to all involved in producing this virtuoso program. What time and place awaits the observer next, one wonders? The Palace of King Minos at Knossos? The Colosseum? The Palace at Versailles? The Forbidden City at Peking? An Imperial Star Destroyer? Whichever it may prove to be, I wish you success in all your endeavors! 🧐 🤓

First off: How did you get up to the bridge? I kept trying that but I couldn’t find a way. Did I miss an obvious path? Secondly: I literally love this idea. Titanic was my first fascination in life. I loved ships in general as a kid but Titanic was just so unimaginably cool to me. I annoyed the librarian at my elementary school growing up because I would only ever check-out books about ships. So it is incredibly cool to be able to explore this reproduction of her. Having said that, I think it would be incredibly cool if this project were to lead to other similar projects. I would literally love to be able to walk around in the Normandie. I’m so stoked by that idea because I’ve never really been able to get a sense for what the Normandie looked like… And preserving the Queen Mary digitally is also a great idea. One of the most awesome experiences in my life was going aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach. I went back several times, once for the tours and several more times to walk the decks with some friends at night. She has a style that is unbelievably beautiful. The halls of the Queen Mary absolutely seep with maritime Majesty. Even if the other ships weren’t games, just having the ability to tour the ships themselves on your computer or in virtual reality would be incredibly cool.

This is beautifully made. With the 1st class smoking room... is the flooring carpet or a hard surface?
@DerpyPossum
@DerpyPossum 2 жыл бұрын
It’s linoleum tiles. All the flooring in 1st class, with the exception of the lounge, reception room, pool, bathrooms and several cabins, was linoleum.

You need a very powerfull pc to run this even on low, but with my laptop with a 3070 I can run this on max setting woth over a 100fps, and this looks stunning the amount of detail is incredible.

I would like to see Titanic: Honnor and Glory drop on consoles. I would pass so many time just discover the ship and live the sinking from the inside

OMG Same ! I would like to be deep in the ship, like in the mailroom when it hits and then just follow the flow of water until i am on the boat deck, on the stern section when the ship broke in half and take me under. Geez, if a survivor could read my comment, he or she surely think i am a deranged person to ever want to experience such a traumatizing moment like that, in any ways, and that is so disrespectfull for all the people that were on board but what do you want ... I am human.
