that opening five seconds or so was not awkward in the slightest (great video, though!)

Yeah, Lawton needs to smile more during the intros! Thanks for the nice compliment

does the thickness of titanium of the anodised part make a difference to the finish? Would a solid piece of titanium work?Does the length of time the titanium spends in the anodising bath change the colour?
@rexox6662 жыл бұрын
Important thing to note when anodizing, if you have too much baking soda in the solution at higher voltages it will cause pitting in the metal which can be visibly seen as sparks that appear on the metal while anodizing. If this does happen remix new solution with less baking soda.

What to do with the whink after using it? Does it go to HAZMAT disposal, do you sewer it, do you neutralize the acid with lime, do you reuse it? WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THE WHINK?

Besides wearing off, is there another a way to reverse this process for it to return to its original color?

try magnesium anodization, into MgO, high refractory ceramic

Is it possible to turn it back to the original color?
@emilborecki85993 жыл бұрын
Great video! Which metals besides titanium and niobium can also be that colorfully anodized?
@Lawtonfl3 жыл бұрын
I think there are a couple others but I know aluminum can also be Anodized but it requires dye in order for it to be colored

What happens if you put the rust remover in a glass container?
@ChemTalk2 жыл бұрын
You can do it, because it is dilute hydrofluoric acid, not concentrated. We use plastic to avoid that, because it will still attack glass slowly.

@@ChemTalk I discovered another possible side effect. After leaving it in a glass container for a couple weeks, it no longer had any effect on titanium. I'm guessing it became inert.
@ChemTalk2 жыл бұрын
@@noahcoccaro3802 Yeah, many metals become inert after reacting with acids by building up an oxide layer. Titanium and its oxide are fairly unreactive substances. Aluminum foil is protected from water by a 50nm thin aluminum oxide layer that forms faster that it could ever be scratched off. Nickel fluoride is notoriously inert and protective, which is why one of the only way to store fluorine gas in in nickel metal. It quickly builds up a layer of protective NiF2.

Falscher Bohrer und Kühlmittel muss ständig vorhanden sein und doppelt soviel Liter/min wie bei hochlegiertem Werkzeugstahl Drehzahlen ist auch niedriger bei Titan
