IDK why the sports media/sports youtube is painting the Jags as foolish for not re-signing Calvin Ridley when Ridley was probably asking for WAAAAAAY too much after the WR2 performance of a season he had in 2023. The Jags could use that relieved cap space to either pick up a potential true WR1 in the draft or even pick up someone like Tee Higgins from the Bengals for a couple picks and someone like Cam Robinson or even Mac Jones to give Burrow a little extra insurance if he were to get hurt in 2024. Either way, something had the give as far as the cap went and, with the current shape of their trenches, it only made sense to let Ridley walk.

Bottom line is the Jags messed this up. They should’ve left Gabe Davis alone, took some of if not all that money and signed Josh Allen to a long term deal first. Then place the franchise tag on Ridley so he doesn’t walk. This is Trent Baalke’s screw up.

We needed a tall guy that can get a toss up. We had Zay but he's mid af. Davis is just above Mid. But having ridley with him was what I was hoping for. But with Kirk, Engram, and Davis we should be fine with Jones and Washington and cooks rotating in.

@@Squealing_Dawgbruh Zay stats last year was just as good as Ridley this year he just was hurt and that court case was going on last year. Ridley is mid he's not a #1 a good #2 maybe he has no RAC and dropped about 4 TDs then run back to the huddle like it wasn't his fault. TN can have him an we can watch him screw up twice a year. I didn't want him back in the 1st place. Either trade for Tee and I'll give #17 for him rn or draft Brian Thomas Jr or Keon Coleman in the 1st round

@@Squealing_Dawg i said Zay last year had 82 rec for 800+ yards an 5 TDs. Ridley had 76 rec for 1000 yards and 8TDs being force the ball most of the season. The stats are pretty much the same. The money Mr. Backwood was asking for was ridiculous

Something I think is overlooked is that we do not yet know the terms of the actual contract. The first salary reporting is practically always based on information put out by the player's agent, who ALWAYS reports the best case scenario, when in actuality, that reported number is loaded with incentives and would more accurately be described as "up to" a certain number, which often is not reached by the player.

Levis, whether he works or not is on a rookie deal. With Tannehill and Henry off the books, plenty of salary cap space and Hopkins not necessary here long term, the TItans have plenty of cap space and can take on that calculated risk... on top of having many other needs... They still can draft an elite WR in round one or 2...

Jaguars GM Baalke screwed this up. He should have had Josh Allen's deal done months ago and then tagged Ridley. Now he gave our in division rival the Titans a really good WR.

This is pure conjecture journalism, very limited fact-mostly incorrect hearsay and opinion. Fact 1: Jon Robinson was responsible for the AJ Brown trade, not Mike Vrabel. Fact 2: Ridley himself stated on The OTP Podcast he requested the Titans because of Will Levis and he wanted to get the ball. The Jags were not in consideration, especially after they signed Gabe Davis.

The Titians didn’t pull a fast one! Trent Baalke sat on his hands and mismanaged the personal as usual. If he would’ve gotten a deal done with Josh Allen way earlier like he should’ve they could’ve used the franchise tag on Ridley and still only given the falcons a third and the jags wouldn’t of been in this predicament in the first place

What a massive L for Ten. As someone who watched every Jags game Riddley is horrible for a 2nd year QB. He consistently ran the wrong routes and dropped an ungodly amount of crucial catches. I'm so glad our division rivals just overpaid for a 30-year-old receiver.

Titans massively overpaid for him lol. 76 receptions and only 230 YAC. Can’t get off press coverage. Ran the wrong route constantly that resulted in turnovers. Dropped numerous wide open touchdowns. Now he’s in a new system, so he will be running the wrong routes again lol. Was lazy and gave up on plays a lot, and that was before he got paid. I wish him all the best, but he will be causing headaches in Tenn as well lol.

92 million if he plays like a top 10 WR in the league is not an overpay... he's not touching anywhere near $92 if he doesn't perform. Best part for the Titans is that since they aren't paying anyone from their 2020 and 2021 draft classes, (both of which being essentially busts) they can just eat $25 million year 1... $25 million year 2... and cut him without much/any cap hit if it doesn't work out. No real risk of talent loss to the team and at the very least, you got a WR 2 on a roster that is essentially just Dhop without Ridley there.

Coach Vrabel did NOT trade AJ Brown. The idiot GM, Jon Robinson did. Vrabel was angry about that trade, as was the owner, Amy Adams Strunk. JRob got his tail fired for that move. The new GM Ran Carthon has signed Calvin Ridley with a $50 million guarantee, up to $92 million with the added incentives. Vrabel & owner Amy were furious when idiot Jon Robinson traded AJ away! He got his arse fired bec of that trade. Hopefully this new guy, Calvin Ridley can shore up what the Titans lost in AJ. Only time will tell. But the blame is solely 100% on the former GM Jon Robinson. So far, Ran Carthon is making some good moves.

No the numbers I've heard is that Jacksonville was in the range of 16 - 18 million per year and the patriots were at 20 ish million per year but also have a state income tax and millionaires tax to consider... Tennessee came in with 23 ish million per year and no state tax and blew up both offers out of the water for a guy who probably won't get another big NFL contract at his age.
