Erosion combined with grinding?? Crazy tech right there! Combining the two most accurate machining processes is genius! The tungsten in those wheels will give them increased wear resistance over pure copper. Cool stuff, thanks for sharing manufacturing on a world wide level boss!

Our tool eroding machines can erode tools made of PCD and CBN and grind tools made of carbide and high speed steel, all in one alternating stream. Our 2-in-1 machine concept has already more than 20 years of existence.

That is the most amazing machining of parts and tools that l have yet seen. I was a CNC / EDM / ECM machinist in life before retiring and I am always impressed by the German ethics of manufacturing. Ever since I first met some of the German machinists from "Operation Paperclip" l knew that l was hooked on precision machining. The German machinists from the 1960s and 1970s era could do amazing things with screw machines and custom milling machines that still amazes me.

Funny you are also from Philly. Back in the 1980's I did electrical work for some machine & tool and die shops that had several EDM & wire machines. At one shop they ran wire machines 24/7. Foreman would cone in early Sunday morning to install new parts to be run.

So what is waterjet cutting if not erosion?
@TITANSofCNC Жыл бұрын
Well, in erosion… electricity is cutting the material… and in waterjet… pieces of sand are being pounded into the material at 90,000PSI to cut the material. Definitely different… Erosion is way more precise.
@cda32 Жыл бұрын
The cutting in waterjet is done by garnet so technically that's abrasion which is a subset of erosion. This is arc erosion.
@merouanebenderradji1582 Жыл бұрын
it is erosion, I think the term applies to both technologies here.

because the rods in the old XJ650 were broken and there was no where to get new ones... bigger machines... as things are made, more of that tungsten finds it's way into the base stock of normal material. casting pool in 1993 said 128'000psi tensile, why does a E7018 welding rod hold 170'000psi... but the E7018 rod from a few miles east lets go at 65'000psi? weird... happy i got new axles for the car but the box said made in China in one spot... there is 220'000 on one axle and 68'000 laser etched into the other one 23lb each, Q.C. of 3500 tons of separation anxiety? one to won... 🤔, one does and the other will too. nearly 10'000 ford 8.8 CV axles? because there are only 5000 of those cars still in use? all kitchens have soy sauce in them to.

well, this is slightly more sophisticated than setting up an electrode with some string, pulleys, and weights, or running a diamond wheel in a toolpost with mildly caustic "coolant". (clean EVERYTHING afterwards...) you only need a small HV supply to get the arc. in many ways, its closest to whats in a plasma ball, little nibble, little nibble... (what? you havent dropped a sheet of foil over plasma ball and cut holes in it with the arc? what are you doing with your life?) done this many times in a shitty backyard shop. just because one can. what scares me is that it seems to be new information for so many commentors. if you dont want to expand your knowledge base, havent done so already... then why watch these videos? keep pushing buttons. this process is mentioned in nearly every trade book i have from the 60s onwards. at least, the ones dealing with tolerances, grinding, etc. yknow, when PLANERS and SHAPERS were still shop mainstays? open a book, educate yourself, give things a go. just because its old, yellow, maybe a bit mouldy and smelly... doesnt mean the information held within is useless. usually you find its BETTER. or can be re-applied to another situation.
