I'm 2200 blitz on chess.com. Just do lots of tactics diligently every day and learn your opening systems well. For example, as Black, I like to play the Slav Defense since in blitz I can play 10-20 moves of theory. Long chess games (>15 min) and OTB tourneys help tremendously with preparation as well as chess thinking in general. Also analyze your games without a computer after the game and write down the moves and ideas you were thinking during the game. Then use a computer to see missed tactics and whatnot. John does this after his games and I've been trying to make a habit of doing it too. Hope that helps! :)

Maybe in the game against Andrew you should have moved your b6 knight to c4 and e5 instead of the d2 knight. That looked a lot more natural to me, since the knight on b6 didn‘t do much (and stayed there for the rest of the game)

1:21:03 what is the idea behind the f4-Bf3 maneuver? there's no rook on the f file, and i'm not sure what the bishop is targetting
@SaintD3825 жыл бұрын
I see f2-f4 as an expanding/space-gaining move which bolsters the strong Ne5, and in some lines threatens to pry open the a2-g8 diagonal with f4-f5 (for instance, if the Black queen ever stops guarding f7). Bf3 improves the bishop by putting it on the long diagonal, while also eyeing the d5-square in case the Nd5 ever needs to be removed. I agree the f2-f4 push is usually more effective with the rook still on the f-file.
