Gary Hart said that the fans finding out that Lance wasn’t a real Von Erich was the biggest mistake Fritz made because the fans didn’t trust him or his product after that.

Buzz Sawyer could be ok if he was sober and interacting with someone who could stand toe to toe with him. But if he wasn't sober or he was dealing with someone who wouldn't stand up to him, it was going to be bad.

As I've heard the story, Fritz, these days I call him the Tywin Lannister of Pro Wrestling, so obsessed with the Family Legacy, with making the Von Erich name a Dynasty, he didn't see what was happening with his actual family until it was too late, and in Fritz' mind the Von Erich Dynasty required three Von Erich's working. When David died Fritz pushed Mike to get in the ring, Mike didn't want to but Papa Fritz was a man you didn't say No to. And then when Kerry had his motorcycle accident Fritz needed a third Von Erich, Chris unfortunately was not an option, so he came up with Lance, "the son of his brother Waldo". EVERYBODY thought that was a bad idea, even Doris thought that was a bad idea and she never got involved in that side of the business, but like I said, Fritz' mind was made up and when his mind is made up nobody said no to him. And it proved to be a disaster. William Vaughan was a known commodity, the internet wasn't there yet but there were plenty of kayfabe mags that made note of Ricky Vaughan in Portland, and anybody who followed College Football in Texas, which was half of Texas, knew him from there, nobody was buying him as a Von Erich. Just the opposite in fact, the myth of the Von Erich family was already starting to crumble, when Lance came in it broke holes in it, and when Fritz ultimately made a point of making a real news conference publicly announcing that he fired William Vaughan, that tore the curtain completely down exposing the Adkinson family and beginning the end of WCCW.

Gary Hart claims in his book that selling Lance out on tv was Gary ID & he was proud of it. Kerry didn’t want to do it. Gary said it went over great but I did not in fact as stated it hurt them. Wild West Wrestling was outdrawing World Class

People call him Lance Non Erich but the Von Erich’s weren’t really Von Erich’s either so. And Fritz was running Lance ragged because his sons were unreliable but Lance wasn’t getting Von Erich pay so he left

The story Lance tells at the end is not new. I've heard stories before about Von Erich fans making pilgrimages to the Sportatorium and remarking on what a dump it was. I can vouch for what the interviewer says about Viking Hall (the ECW arena) at Swanson and Ritner. Also a dive.

my uncle took me in the early 90s cause he was a wrestling junkie. i was about 10. it was the dumpiest renowned venue i'd ever seen. i went to several shows at the ECW arena...haha arena is a ncie little euphemism. it was a warehouse and a terribly run down warehouse at that

@Jahn_Pah_Jonz Well, the Gino rumors have been around for awhile. Several wrestlers have talked about it in their shoot videos. This is the 1st time I ever heard it about buzz. I always heard, and believed it was just a heart attack. Who knows foresure though about any of it.

Billy Jack Haynes stated that Buzz Sawyer and himself ran drugs for the same drug organization. He said Buzz Sawyer had done something that led to the organization having Buzz Sawyer killed. I would suggest you refer to a Billy Jack Haynes interview for more details!

No he wasn’t. Only time you saw his name was on the ratings section of Northwest. He didn’t start getting pics and articles until he became a Von Erich. Fans knowing who he was is all revisionist BS, hence why he was mobbed in Texas and over like he said here.
