I faced this problem,my in laws are well educated,my father in law is dr and MIL is teacher. But even after being educated they wanted me to forget my responsibilities towards my own parents. I fought back, they always instigated the fights whenever I wanted to visit my parents stating you should now forget that home. But I also stood up for myself , fought with each and every1 including my husband, if a son can take care of his parents and if he is not being questioned then why can't a woman take care of her parents? Very good topic. Unfortunately in India people do not learn from such movies.

No body invests in their higher Education 2. Dowry - the same parents who consider their boy to be ATM ..cash on that ATM machine by asking for anywhere between 10-30-50 lakh easily. You are just seeing one side of the issue. Females have to work..even when they are bleeding every month. Do work both outside and household...when they are carrying a child. Because in India when both the spouses are working...after they come home...the lady goes to the kitchen while the guy goes to the bedroom to rest. Obviously, this does not apply to everyone but a majority of middle class and upper middle class.
