Strange thing, I just watched a documentary on Daniel Johnston a strange gifted musician who wrote the song I lost my mind which is part of this song and featured on this album. I had never heard of him before today. I was talking to my son tonight and he said I needed to watch this video. He has been listening to this album regurly lately and knew who I was talking about. Too cool.

For anyone like me that wanted to sing along to this medley: Who is this I see trying on my face? I went to bed one night and he took my place And now he's doing anything, trying to take me to outer space But there's more on Earth than's dreamt of in your psychology He don't act like me, but we lookalike He don't act like me, but we lookalike He don't act like me He don't act like me He don't act like me, but we look alike We look alike We look alike We look alike We look alike We look alike We look alike We look alike I had lost my mind I lost my head for a while I was off my rocker outta line, outta whack See I had this tiny crack in my head That slowly split open and my brains oozed out Lying on the sidewalk and I didn't even know it I had lost my mind I had lost my mind I was sitting in the basement when I first realized it was gone Hopped in my van, ran right over to the lost and found Said "Pardon me but I seem to have lost my mind" She said "Well, can you identify it please?" I said "Why sure, it's a cute little bugger About yea big, a little warped from the rain" She said "Well then sir this must be your brain" I said "Thank you ma'am I'm always losing that damn thing" I had lost my mind I had lost my mind I had lost my mind I had lost my mind I met a mystery man on a magic morning Things were exciting that used to be boring Things that were frightening now seemed inviting And what used to be obscene now seemed the right thing I had a crazy idea at just around 6:30 Things were so clear that had been murky Things were so clean that had been dirty And what used to be a dream now seemed a certainty I was crying as I tried to get high I've been dying all the time to get by And along came a guy who said "Looking on the bright side's alright It's alright It's alright" I got the strangest sensation when he looked in my direction And my mind started racing when he offered me protection And then I knew that my patience was rewarded Hadn't known I had been waiting for it And what used to be a waste became important I was afraid of what the doctor might say That I'd be made to learn to pray the right way But then I saw a brave face say "Being afraid's okay It's okay" And it was so great to come under his glittering gaze He wipes the winter away See the brave face make all the races wanna say "Looking on the bright side's alright Looking on the bright side's alright Looking on the bright side's alright Looking on the bright side's alright It's alright (It's alright) It's alright (It's alright) It's alright (It's alright) It's alright (It's alright) It's alright (It's alright) It's alright (It's alright) It's alright (It's alright) Alright!" Did they always ask you why you had to act so different? So very different from all the other children What could you tell them? When they went off to try to Criticize you and chastise you Baptize you and then lobotomize you Isn't it true, ooh ooh that special school Turned you into a reverent fool Tell papa and the reverend too That they are ignorant and you disapprove They would like to Turn a subject into a citizen They will make you A patient if you take their medicine They sell you shit to make you sick That shit I sell will make you well Take two of these and break the great Satan's spell You know it's an emergency They call it a perverted dream I call it an emerging scene I say, say, can't you see They came with their catechism Calling it your condition I call that crass conditioning Oh, why ain't you listening? Reveal your hidden heritage Collect your true inheritance A veritable treasure chest opening They would like to Turn a child into a Christian I've been living without a God And these Christians don't know what they're missing Visionary dreams Ripping through the seams When we gathered around the fire The devious and weak Make insidious schemes They want to water down the fire Which is always burning Which is always burning There's witches always burning Oh! The fire! You know the type of guy Who doesn't like the light Don't want to stand beside the fire He shackles up your feet Pushes you to your knees Forbids you to receive the fire I used to like walking with my eyes down I'd sleep all day and fret away the night hours But then I saw the sun and felt its light's power And I found out the planet ain't no private house Now I turn a brave bully to a shy coward Make a loud lout silent as a quiet mouse Then I make them hand over the white cloud And then they're leaving me with a polite bow And I've got plans I haven't time to write down I'll incite a riot, fire flying all around When I'm crying out, I'm howling with the wild hounds Don't wanna buy an ounce For me, the right amount is the entire pound I only like it when it's dimed out I only like it when it's dimed out I only like it when it's dimed out When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out, when it's dimed out I don't chase after clocks or calendars I bow down not to masters, gods, nor managers Cause all the greatest artists, they were amateurs Unembarrassed, dressed in only bandages And I don't read rules or adhere to rituals I'm an impatient underdog indivisible And my challengers are talentless imbeciles When my chalice is full, I am invincible I don't listen to parents or priests or principals Inconsiderate of little individuals When they ration out their miniscule residuals Shit by the fistful As long as there's a law, I'll be a criminal I only like it when it's dimed out I only like it when it's dimed out I only like it when it's dimed out When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out, when it's dimed out When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out I turned it up to four and couldn't feel it I turned it up to five, it wasn't real yet Turning it up to six wouldn't reveal it Seven was a secret Eight was reaching Nine was decent, but I really liked it when it dimed out I only really like it when it's dimed out I like, "like it" like it dimed out I like it, like it, like it, like it dimed out I only like it when it's dimed out I only like it when it's dimed out I only like it when it's dimed out When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out, when it's dimed out Whatever's inside, let it climb out That was his plan and it's mine now
