"hustle and bustle of the high street"? I dont know where you live but I hadnt seen any hustle nor bustle for many years where I lived :) I know exactly what you mean though, most high streets now are either pedestrianized or have little to no parking available nearby. Thanks for the video :)

Haha! Point taken. There are still places and times when things can be a little hectic though, especially after work! Cheers :)

I still shop there occasionally for cheap Wrangler Jeans and a couple of other things. With that aside, there's not a lot to write home about. As for TK Maxx, it's a great shop if you're in the mood for a rummage - you can get some neat little surprises in their stores.

Weird that cheap Wranglers are such a presence there! Although they always feel a little stiffer until you wear them in…haha.

Interesting video. The Onion did an article a while back saying it was impossible to tell if TJ Maxx was on the edge of bankruptcy or was doing really well...

Heh, it's a weird one to judge for sure, but I *think* they're doing very well. At least in the UK, anyway.

@@DeadMallWalking yeah they seem fine in the UK. People love brands and they love bargains.

We had one huge tjhughes in Sheffield City center I used to go quiet often. Im glad I got some pretty good deals when they were closing down.. but I kind of miss it 😕 we had another smaller one in meadowhall shopping center also closed! Im glad we still have tkmax

Oh cool, that's interesting. I would always take a TK Maxx over a TJ Hughes, but they're interesting to check out from time to time.

I live in Liverpool and TJ Hughes was huge here in the 80s and 90s, literally! 2 massive stores and it was where everyone got branded stuff back in the day 😅
@DeadMallWalking4 жыл бұрын
Ah sweet! It's not a bad store to be honest, just they haven't kept up with refurbishments and modernisation like they should have, IMO.

One thing that would put me off regularly shipping there is just how dated, tired and claustrophobic the shop feels. There's a few shots there where displays jut out into the walkways or there's a pillar in the walkway. Looks like a nightmare for a wheelchair user, someone who's blind, or even a parent with a pushchair. I miss the Warrington store that closed about 10 years ago. Although it has a short spell as a 99p store on the ground floor, the Warrington store has never had a tenant take all the floors since TJ Hugues left and I doubt it ever will again

I think if TJ Maxx could go back in time, they'd wait until they made a deal for Marshall's and there would be a Marshall's sign where every TK Maxx sign is now.
@DeadMallWalking3 жыл бұрын
Wholeheartedly agree. Not sure if I said that in the video - been a while since I filmed it - but I definitely thought it when I was doing some research.

I’ve never heard of TJ Hughes. I’m not sure it was a London thing.

Possibly not, mate. I get the feeling it was more a Northern (Liverpool and above) thing for the most part.
