Definitely of the type of fan who enjoys the multiversal meta fiction and would like to see some of it back. FunPub’s original characters were always fun and I respect the daringness of them to make original characters to begin with given that they were a limited run exclusive thing. Love Glyph and Tap-Out the most, they deserve their enduring-ness, also got some solid affinity for Apelinq and Shockaract. And technically the SG versions of everyone are OCs and they’re mostly great

3:06/3:14 Much of the bots from MTMTE & RID are either lifted from or drawn to resemble the style of the WFC/FOC video game (which is part of the Aligned continuity). So I can see this being Chromedome if he was in the Prime cartoon and his WFC form would be his MTMTE design (someone on Deviantart thought of the same thing with Brainstorm). Which makes me wonder if those designs might show up in the SS or Legacy toylines (aside from everyone's favorite DJD leader and transforming addict)?

I miss the Funpub figures. One of the greatest tragedies of the franchise was the cancellation of the Actionmaster set. Anyone else think the Animated Cheetor mold would make a good Bayverse Sideswipe? Great video by the way.

Completely agree on SG Goldbug. I've seen people praise the new SG being straight repaints of G1 bodies because it doesn't have the same "limitations" the old did, but to me those are what make SG special. That late UT, early Classics vibe the whole thing had was the look. Makes me wish they would have waited until now for a new SG line with UT toys on the rise, or at least they could use Siege toys for ones like Optimus, Ratchet, and even Soundwave to sort of keep the vibe. I think the new Goldbug would've been better as ER Sunstreaker honestly.

Barricade's original toy doesn't have door wings. The side pannels of the vehicle mode turn into his arms so that's where the doors are. I always got the impression that SG were always intended to retain the same vehicle modes but they were limited by what recent molds they could repaint at the time, often forcing them to pick molds that didn't really fit the character.

One thing I really like about the Crumplezone mold for Optimus Primal: the vehicle kind of looks like Optimal Optimus's truck mode

I’m willing to bet the unused IDW Rodimus tooling for Titans Return Hot Rod was meant for a TFCC exclusive release at some point before FunPub lost the license. Still miffed that we never got that tooling!

I liked how FunPub used 2010 Generations Warpath mold to make Strika in Botcon 2013, not to mention how FunPub picked T30 Bomber Megatron mold and made modern version of Krok.

I’ve always thought that collectors club Barricade is an amazing looking figure,despite it just being a straight up repaint of beast hunters Prowl;it was actually one of my grails for years until I finally found one earlier this year. Also to be clear,I’m not talking about a good price,I’m talking about one being listed AT ALL anywhere online. Edit:I just realized you might not have noticed the TFCC Barricade had absolutely ZERO new tooling,they just took the Prowl retool of Prime Smokescreen and recolored it to look like Barricade;also used a silver saw blade arms micron for Frenzy.

My top 5: 1. TFCC RID 2001 Scourge (An obvious, but still awesome repaint) 2. Botcon G1 Battletrap (Very clever use of the Thrilling 30 Springer mold) 3. TFCC Animated Cheetor (A great mixing of styles) 4. TFCC Shattered Glass Cyclonus (Cyclonus in Hot Rod colors? That's two of my favorite Transformers rolled into one) 5. Botcon Transmetal 2 Megatron (RID 2001 Megatron/Gigatron looks great with Transmetal 2 Megatron's colors) Honorable mentions: Botcon Strika, TFCC Slipstream, Botcon Devcon, Botcon Cannonball, and TFCC Serpent OR

A favorite of mine is the pre-Beast Wars Tarantulus being made from RTS Wreck Gar. WAYY better than the reuse of CW Rook they did later on.

Thrustinator and Goldbug are two of my grails. I love the Cybertron Hot Shot mold. Also, I really liked the Lio Convoy Cybertron mode they made from Generations’ Orion Pax.

I’m personally throwing Subscription Service 01 Circuit and Ultra Mammoth in this. Circuit cuz… the colors on this mean looking car and robot is so ridiculous it’s awesome and Mammoth cuz… it’s our Beast Wars Ultra Magnus. Who can hate a big blue mammoth?

Wasn't Barricade also a straight up repaint from Prime Prowl? And also, my choice for most clever reuse, Thrustinator aside, has to be Krok from Stealth Bomber Megatron, there's so, so many details from the original Action Master that line up PERFECTLY with the existing sculpt that one has to wonder if G1 Krok actually influenced that IDW design. The fact that through sheer coincidence the existing gator Arms Micron could combine with Megatron's Fusion Railgun kind of homaging Gatorface "combining" with Krok's gun is icing on the cake.

Chromedome is my fave mold from funpub. Unfortunately I might be replacing him with mmc Nemo. nevertheless, it's awesome. I have yet to get barricade but he's on my list. I'm still ready to protest outside of pete sinclairs house because they didn't make that nightbeat out of the smokescreen mold.

Flame War from the Beast Hunters Arcee mold is also an inspired choice. Best deco of that mold.

Wow, those top 3 are not what I expected. While I do agree with Punch, Thrustinator, and Slipstream I feel the following should have a place at the table SG/action Master Thundercracker 2014 Pirate Scorponok (especially since funpub actually dug out g1 headmaster toolings.) Oil master, not only an obscure pl, but they even manufactured their own brand new Pretender Shell. 2016 Megatron, realizing a cancelled toy from the 3H botcon era, is absolutely gorgeous, and serves as a nice bookend to the funpub era of botcon the began with the 2005 Deathsaurus (who also used the Gigatron mold) Sg Galvatron. Following your inversion of attitude idea from Goldbug. Galvatron went from an artillery cannon, a device made to end lives and became a rescue helicopter designed to save lives. Thunder Mayhem new toys for 5 super obscure characters, and an amazing Geoff Senior inspired Thunderwing combiner head. Honorable mention: 2015 Megatron. Not many people like him, but I do.

I think Hasbro these days is using Selects to pretty much the same level of odd homages and characters. I mean, we’re getting Tow-Line, all kinds of Diaclone colors…

I would love for them to just recreate the Prime Slipstream for future Legacy, but thanks to Cyberverse they will probably use the bulkier version. Maybe if APC decides to do a Prime Starcream they can do a retool into Slipstream.
