Also, remember the Christmas episode where Eddie and Buck took Christopher to meet Santa Claus. When Santa's helper complimented Buck and Eddie on having an adorable son, Buck hesitated a bit before replying with a "thank you" but he did not correct her assumption. I have watched this scene like 50 times. The exchange was hilarious and Buck's expression, priceless. 😂😂. Oliver Stark has chemistry with anybody. There have been way too many signals about Buck and whether or not he might be gay. I'll be patient. It will happen. I know it will. Too bad TK is taken. I know I could be wrong but Honestly as someone who has been watching from day one both 911 and lone star, I feel I can say this with no problem. Also as someone who has listened to interviews/podcasts from the creators and actors about the characters. People keep saying “why didn’t Buck correct him?” Thought all the seasons as of now, I have gotten a lot of mixed vibes from him. I could be wrong, but Buck gives off straight but possibly pan vibes. I honestly can say that I could see his character deployment going both as being straight or possibly pan. He definitely likes women, no if ands or buts. But their are moments in the show where you get the feeling that he emotionally and physically connects in possibly a sexual way with other men. He’s very choosy as well so that’s why it’s just a vibe with me, he only kinda gives these vibes with like one maybe two guys. Like I said, I could be wrong because I definitely see him as being a cis straight male, but he definitely gives off a “I’m a straight male!.....but I could like another guy.” All I’m saying is that if the creators ever came out saying he was pan or possibly even bi, I wouldn’t doubt it and I wouldn’t be completely surprised. But at the same time if they came out saying he was straight, I wouldn’t be mad about it. He gives me a lot of mixed emotions honestly, even from the first season.

@@xxlix437 exactly, but honestly at the same time they could just be queer-baiting as well. Like I said I definitely see his as straight like I never doubt it, it’s like main thought when seeing him. But I could see the creators trying to use mix signals to kinda queer-bait his character, like possibly at some point throwing in more questionable scenes and conversations that would kinda make people question it. And honestly as someone who has seen it happen in other shows and movies, Buck’s character is definitely one that they could do it with and them be like “oh yeah, he’s straight but we had some writing/script issues, our bad.” And pass it off as the mixed signals as being just a script error. I’m not going to lie that it really does make me sad that his character type is used like that, mainly because when writers do this it’s to character just like him that have the same traits. Being kind, cool, buff, loving, being a little two heterosexual that it’s kinda questionable with their actions. I don’t know, I just really like his character and hope that the writing team doesn’t decide to completely ruin his character by just- making up writing issues to make fans confused and upset on both lgbtq+ and straight peoples sides. I wouldn’t care if he was either but I don’t want his character to be completely questionable thought the whole series to fans if you get what I mean.

I think that properly speaking there is no such thing as a "gaydar". I am gay and quite aware of these matters. However, there is a thing between humans of any sexual orientation that, if you are gay, quite resembles a "gaydar" and may functionally work like a "gaydar". Let me explain: human beings (some more than others, it is a kind of characteristic that varies widely in its biological and social mechanism) have a perception that someone is eyeing them in a sexual, lustful way, even if the desire is unbeknownst to and by the "staring person". I call it "a certain liquidity of the eye" (perhaps from an Oscar Wilde's phrase, I do not know). And if you are a straight guy you can sense that from the staring of girls though they usually tend to be a lot more discreet than boys are. If you are a gay man and the person who is lustingly staring at you is also a man, you can freely call it "gaydar", but the more adequate formulation would be "lust radar" since it applies to everyone regardless of gender and/or sexual orientation.

Your "Lust Radar" is definitely different from "Gaydar". There may be some overlap, but still they can be differentiated. Gaydar does not have to involve lust. It is being able to correctly guess if a person is gay (after being observed to some level). A gay man activating his "gaydar" can just sit in a restaurant and look around to guess if any of the men around him is gay, too, without any of them having to look or interact with him. Because I think that one thing is finding out that someone is gay because he is looking at you with a kind of interest that announces desire which makes you then come to the conclusion that he is gay, too. That is the meaning of "gaydar" for me. And I believe it is the common meaning of "gaydar" which I think is the gay part of a pretty common human faculty (since it is present also in heterosexual people) of discovering that someone is "into you", in the sense of being sexually attracted by and to you, even sometimes unbeknownst to and by the person that is feeliing the attraction, but always evident to you, the person who has the so called "gaydar", being it accurate or not. Although, of course, we cannot look it up to assert this since "gaydar" is not yet dictionarized. Another thing, on the contrary, is the practice you describe which indeed does not involve attraction, lust or desire and would, in my humble opinion, be more adequately understood as "gay profiling" which, in many circumstances (but not in all cases) would be so erroneous and reproachful as its closely related attitude known as "racial profiling" to which is akin. And so this behaviour of trying to guess if someone is gay, although frequent and many times innocent, just by the tone of voice, clothes, gesticulation etc., should be avoided. I beg your pardon, but I would rather classify "gaydar" as a conduct in the realm of desire and love than attach it to the domain of prejudiced profiling and biased preliminary judgement about the sexual orientation of someone. Notwithstanding all this, you are completely entitled to have your own opinion in this social semantics matter which overall is, as you say somehow "mythical" and far from certain.
