I am a retired school principal, who was directed toward real estate and stock investments by a friend who worked in finance. I am not a millionaire, but I am comfortable. I had a a couple relatives who were millionaires (both passed away within the last 3 years), and they lived a comfortable life. But, I also have friends who were laborers for markets, hospitals, aerospace, utilitity companies, construction, education, etc., who did careers in their industries, and the own their homes, they travel, and are enjoying theif senior years. Everyone doesn't need to be a millionaire to have a good life. You just need to find what you enjoy, stick with it, and stay the fuck out of trouble. One of my favorite uncles is barely getting by in his senior years, but it's because as a teen and young adult, it was all about the streets, and he was in and out of camp and jail. I love uncle, and kick him some bucks every other month, and he grew-up with both parents. His dad was my role model, 'cause here in L.A., he and my grandma were buyimg houses in L.A. starting in the lete 50s. Their is a one ethnic group of people that have the game down in L.A. right now. Real estate is grossly overpriced, so they live two families to a house, save their money, and when another one comes on the market, they buy that one. I could never get my late brother, cousin, or a close friend to join me back in the 90s, when rental units were cheap. Youngsters, if you want to be a welder, do it. Most welding jobs in L.A. pay $25-40 an hour.
