One nice thing about recording your building... if the inspector questions anything... you have video proof of all the extra steps you took to get it right. You went above board on everything. Great job.

Don't know if it's been suggested. Have you thought about lath and screws to secure your plastic. It's a lot easier to remove than those nails. Plus it's great in high wind conditions. Noticed some tropical storms developing out of Africa. As always great job.

Wall looks awesome! Re: Harbor Freight... I've purchased a couple of their Predator semi-trash pumps and a pressure washer over the past couple years and that Predator engine is pretty bullet proof. I use only ethanol-free fuel in them, but one of the pumps sits outside, year round and it starts the first pull. I use that one to pump water from a creek that runs through our property about 400 feet thru 2" hose and PVC pipe to our pond to keep the water level up. It runs just above idle for about 6 hours on 1 gallon of gas. When my pond is down about 8", it takes doing that twice to top it back off. With all this rain, I haven't needed it in over a month. All our downspouts go underground and feed into the pond too, to it has been almost constantly over-flowing out and down to that previous mentioned creek most of the spring and summer this year. The other pump is up in Michigan and it is used to pump water from Lake Huron to water large lawn. Couldn't be happier with both applications. I try to support China as little as possible these days, but the Predator line is tough to beat for the $$. That tool you got looks very handy and much easier than trying to rip a large sheet of plywood on my table saw. I think I'll pick one up for the next project.

I agree their cheap engines are quite impressive.

Make yourself a handle you can screw onto the OSB section you are cutting out of the door/window. Why try to grab an edge or risk it coming down and smashing a finger or hand when you can attach a simple handle to hold in a spot you are comfortable as you cut with the router. You have two more full walls so lots of places to use it.

What you called little hammer is a shingle hatched the little slider pins you set for the size the shingle tab is spaced for over-lap !
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
Cool, but that pin is actually holding a slide out razor blade. This hatchet hammer is made specifically for underlayment and vapor barrier. Magnetic head to hold cap nails, and a slide out razor to cut the material.

Before spray foaming, check with termite companies for bonds with spray foam. My neighbor informed me that the ones who will give you a bond usually exclude Formosa and only bond against E3's. I don't know if there is difference in there eyes as for as closed vs open cell. I know open cell is said to be better in the south. Usually closed cell is only used on concrete walls and in metal buildings down here in our overheated part of the country.
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
All my termite treatment was under slab. I'm treating above slab with boracare, I've seen a lot of big builders use that and then open cell spray foam.

Something I just noticed. You need blocking all the way down that long wall where the wall meets the roof. Have to block in between each roof truss. The insulation guys can put the cardboard backing to spray the foam against but it isnt enough. Need the board there for a fire break and also to have separation from inside and outside.
@jasonking29433 жыл бұрын
See Andrew told ya the inspector can just watch your channel and give you the ok on everything!!
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
I'm putting porch underside roofing on first leaving a gap the spray foam insulators can fill from the inside. The inspector told me that the foam qualifies as a fire draft control barrier for open voids. I specifically asked about additional blocking.

@joeblan94263 жыл бұрын
Just wondered if you undid a 8 foot section of your plastic and nailed a 2x4 at the bottom of your plastic and rolled it up about 8 feet .So if you start to get a shower you can just drop the 2x4 roll of plastic and renail it if necessary. That would keep it from getting wet maybe. GOD Bless!
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
I've been kicking that idea around myself
@timothydillon64213 жыл бұрын
The table on a circ saw is 1 1/2 on one side and 3 1/2 on the other, plus or minus a tick depending on the kerf of the blade you are using. Those dimensions are not by accident.

Yep I found that out, good info

Hello from Chicago! Not sure if I missed it but why aren't you using the jig you made to space out the plywood?
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
Can't on the upper sheets due to not being able to lift the sheets up and over the tabs. Plus just experimenting with other techniques
@launceherron3 жыл бұрын
Maybe it was in a different video. But why are you putting smooth side out on the osb? That's why there are lines on the outside (rough side) is that you can follow to nail off
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
Those lines don't match up on a post frame house due to offset spacing. I did cover it in a past video, but the rough side is meant for flooring and roofing only to protect against slip hazards. There is no structural difference one direction or another according to the manufacturer.

We loved your new router bit, totally awesome. My project this weekend was to reorganize the file systems on my three computers to combine my personal files into one disk and to add more virtual memory to one of my laptops. This will help with my CNC projects next week as my CNC machine is at the other end of the building from my laptop that controls it. I use a program usbip to route usb over tcpip.

as for busting bits, I have broke a number of bits on my CNC while learning to use it. Not fun driving the bit into a piece of metal.
