Darchinyan has the wrong stance posture. He rolls his shoulders forward with his head crouched low. So when he commits to throwing a haymaker left he is wide open to take a solid right hand. That's the punch that got him in both fights.

Darchinyan relied on his unorthodox style with a wide stance to befuddle orthodox and southpaw fighters who would usually crumble after getting hit by his left hand, but at 118 Donaire has never been stopped and only lost a deicision once to Rigondeaux. If you want to legitimately beat Donaire at 118, you have to do it by points ala Rigo or wait for him to turn 37 years old and fight him as a 26 year old ala Inoue otherwise you are not going to beat him at this weight class.

Before Donaire blasted him to retirement, Darchinyan was the top dog of the 118 division and was going through everybody in the division. He was a phenomenal fighter. just that Donaire is that dude. Too bad Pacquiao overshadowed him throughout much of his carreer but Donaire is no slouch. at 118 his left hook is otherwordly and even still at 37 years old he just shattered the orbital bone of a 26 year old unbeaten, top p4p fighter in Inoue, had that fight been 2010 fighter of the Year Donaire, No way Inoue would have gotten out of round 2.

Bro Vic made a really good adjustment in the rematch. I actually thought he was winning the later rounds before the knockout. Nonito is such an emotional fighter, Vic was a greater boxer this night but as the commentators said, Nonito become more of a puncher, and that punch absolutely hit the target.

Hard to accept? He got bombed in the first fight, eyes glassy as he stumbled back into the ropes after barely getting up. 2nd fight took a number of mortar shell left hooks and then defenseless vs an onslaught of punches. In short, he got shellacked by Donaire.

I never understood the pathetic hate for Darchinyan. He was a fighter in the very light weight classes from a nation that isn't a big boxing nation. Regardless of his ability, the only way that he was going to get widespread attention outside the boxing obsessives is to be a villain, like Prince Naz had to be before him. The fight always settles the pre fight comments about who is going to do what to whom. In this case Nonito ‘s left hook did to Vic the same thing it did in the first fight. No disrespect, to Vic, he always came to fight and win, but his style let him get hit. Donaire is a much better boxer, with a high ring IQ, and one punch KO power. Great fight by both and a credit to the sport of boxing.
